That was pretty abysmal.....what on earths going on? Cannot all be down to Ng being out.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v NORWICH CITY: Match thread
Awful second half, terrible goals to concede, Wintle and Tanner with stupid mistakes. They were there for the taking.

Really, really disappointing.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v NORWICH CITY: Match thread
Poor. Romero isn't fit enough, we really missed Ng.
Whilst the ref was poor it was our fault. 3 poor goals and we took our foot off second half.
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v NORWICH CITY: Match thread
Our defending second half was timid but also questions should be asked of EB.
Shore up and protect the 2-1.
Tanner may get blame for his part in the slump but I doubt his brief was track your man.
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v NORWICH CITY: Match thread
We were also totally outplayed in midfield, not a great game from Siopsis. They changed their full backs at half time, changed shape in midfield and totally dominated. We’ve lost twice now at home this season to struggling sides!

Amateurish.
What on earth did Bulut say at HT? 'Don't worry lads. We have already won this'??

That is a good point - Bowler and Grant repeatedly beat their men in the first half.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v NORWICH CITY: Match thread
From a winning position, never had the desire to go on and win the game, disappointing poor 2nd half.

Protect a 2-1 lead for half an hour-At home? Don't think so. He made 3 like for like subs, none of the turned up, and the rest were piss poor for the best part of the 2nd half. Norwich started having a go, no doubt on the instructions of a dead man walking manager, with one bullet left in the barrel. We didn't match their work rate and urgency.

It's another Ipswich right... he's brought off the players who were actually providing us with something of an outlet going forward and then we've looked even worse after, turned around and conceded poor goals. No way Bowler should have come off before Grant, Robinson was our best player out there and as good and important as Siopis has been he didn't lay a glove on anybody out there today and Ralls was at least impacting the game.

He was OK in the first half. In the second half he fell apart. Missed a good chance and gave the ball away after making poor decisions.

Totally agree with that...if players are fit and doing well, they should be able to last the 90+ minutes. It's not ALWAYS a squad game.

Ralls was also on a yellow, I didn’t fancy him staying on with that ref anyway tbh.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 NORWICH CITY: Match thread
Surrendered the second half. Grant has no end product and could have put the game to bed. After that, nothing and outplayed. Best players taken off.

We were not coping pre subs though.
Don't chuck a game changing winger on that early until we'd stemmed the flow of the game.
Robbo had more to give. He bossed the 1st half.
Let them come at us, wear themselves out and then hit them with our big guns.

Grant so frustrating

Especially with an international break coming up. Didn't see the game so can't pass judgement but agree with your play the full 90+ if fit in today's circumstances

So we weren't coping, Bulut puts on a 'Game Changer' plus Colwill, and wintle probably to sit in, yet we should have allowed Norwich to carry on what they were doing in the hope that they twist themselves up and leave some spaces? Can you imagine the response on here if the same thing had happened but Bulut hadn't made any changes? We'd have three separate threads on Rubin Colwill alone....:hehe: I get your drift though. Bad day. I don't think we were that fluent during the 1st half
-
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 NORWICH CITY: Match thread
Agreed, other than the 10-15 minutes in the first half where Norwich played suicidal defense we were crap the whole game. Still, that makes it even more strange that he'd bring off the players who were actually contributing.
Bin it and move on, but you'd think depth at full back has gone straight to the top of the shopping list in January now.

Sums up this game well.
I do think that Norwich were there for the taking if we took a more attacking philosophy like we did against stoke.
-
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 NORWICH CITY: Match thread
I thought in the first half that we were vulnerable.
Norwich changed their full backs and shape at half time and we couldn’t cope. Their goals were hardly a surprise.
Romeo clearly not up to it, but the whole side was lacking in the 2nd half.
-
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 NORWICH CITY: Match thread
Probably the worst game for Ng to miss - their wing back was lightening quick. We were getting very ragged all over the pitch. I think the subs, whoever they would have been, didn't help. It was the sort of game where you play yourselves back into the game, but 3 changes at once made us even more disjointed.
-
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 NORWICH CITY: Match thread
I thought Robinson was our best player but I still thought it was a good idea to sub him for Colwill who I expected to play just well. I was wrong.
-
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 NORWICH CITY: Match thread
I thought we were way too passive against a struggling team, similar to the QPR game. I don’t understand why we didn’t get at them from the start rather than allow them to have the ball.

I'd agree with that assessment. We looked happy to give the ball away and let them play- Norwich were first to every loose ball or 50/50.
We have ground out wins recently, without being great, relying on a solid defence. The defence went to pieces today and we got what we deserved.
-
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 NORWICH CITY: Match thread
We just couldn't hold onto the ball up top, Meite is nowhere near a championship "9". As soon as he or Etete are against decent physical centre halfs we struggle especially at home where teams can put men in the middle.
I agree with the Ralls sub, she may have given him a second yellow at any time, she has a high red card history.
Meite tires against big centre halfs
And Robinson barely chases when fresh.
Tanner and Rubin may benifit from a half-season loan, especially when Rambo, O'Dowda are back and if we get a few starters in over the window
-
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 NORWICH CITY: Match thread
E WERE AWFUL, ESPECIALLY SECOND HALF, SO NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE RESULT...
but...
What an abysmal display by the ref!!!

I think until further squad strengthening we will have games like today. Don’t get me wrong I’d much prefer what we’ve seen so far this season to the last few seasons.

If anything, the ref has a low red card count
https://www.soccerbase.com/referees/...&season_id=156
But it’s hard to see how when you see some of the things she gave yellows for today.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 NORWICH CITY: Match thread
Bowler is ripping them to bits, I know, I’ll take him off, Robinson is causing them some right mischief, I know I’ll take him off. Players can play for 90 minutes y’know Erol. No need to change to try and look tactically clever.

uh oh..somebody questioned the managers decision making and frame of mind for the job
p.s you are spot on.
p.p.s the stoke game is the ONLY match so far where bulut didnt hide away in his shell...i had high hopes for this match.
