Put a load of magic mushrooms and other mind altering drugs into the mix - along with an oral tradition of borrowed myths and prophesies - and you have a new cult convinced of supernatural events. By an accident of history this cult becomes the religion of the Roman Empire and we end up with the legacy of that today.
You must be buying a lot of mushrooms to maintain such a stance, not to mention denial of selected historical events.
Rome and the Catholic Church is simply a false flag, and the answer has nothing to do with them and everything to do with the Man constantly on the lips of Gordan Ramsay and every other blaspheming individual.

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - What happens when we die? Does our soul survive bodily death? Scientists and experts point to evidence that death is not the end and that our soul lives on connecting with loved ones who have passed on.
......Panagore experienced what researchers call a near-death experience (NDE) which Dr. Jeffrey Long, who studies these experiences, described as a lucid experience occurring at the time of a severe life-threatening event. He founded the Near-Death Research Foundation in 1988 and said there is evidence proving these experiences are real.
Getting Answers:
Does our soul survive bodily death?

He also uses large quantities of hair gel and offers decent advice to failing businesses, but these things have nothing to do with the fact that to the exclusion of everyone else, he only mentions 'Jesus Christ' consistently, and not in a good way.

Well if we look at how 2025 describes it in modern literature and understanding, the Google AI summary says..........
"Soul" is often used to represent the deepest, most authentic part of a character's being, exploring their inner life, emotions, and sense of purpose, even when not explicitly tied to a religious concept; it serves as a way to delve into complex human experiences like identity, morality, and the search for meaning, often in the face of a material world that may seem to devalue such spiritual aspects.
I think that is an excellent summary and would require zero adjustments or edits when considering what God says about the soul; the Bible also informs us that the soul cannot be destroyed and that God has made this 'most authentic part of a characters being' to be eternal; and as we see below, even modern writing is not unfamiliar with this thought.
"MY HEART WILL GO ON" (1997)
Everyone will remember the lyrics of this song sung in connection with the movie Titanic, they finish with these words:-
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on (why does the heart go on?)
Once more, you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
You're here, there's nothing I fear
And I know that my heart will go on
We'll stay forever this way
You are safe in my heart and
My heart will go on and on.

Re: "I'm convinced that death is not the end for us whatever happens after that"
I’m getting the feeling that there’s a few on here who associate the concept of life after with religion or belief in some deity. It doesn’t have to be that way. There’s plenty of evidence out there, both scientific and personal accounts that suggests death is not the end, where religion doesn’t factor into this at all
-

'Titanic'. Celine Dion. Google AI v tidbits from the Bible?
It is quite a useful tag if it isn't weighed down with all the 'eternal', supernatural, fantasy bagage.
But really, Celine Dion! :hehe:
(I won't be able to get that awful sentimental crappy tune out of my head all day now. It is soul destroying!)

It's because posters are responding to the endless and extremely tiresome Biblical carpet-bombing by truthpaste.

Can we not therefore turn this conversation around and just eliminate the religious element? Because I think it’s quite an interesting topic.

As truthpaste started this thread and is one of the main contributors, why not start a new thread with a more salient heading that is germane to your spin on things and see if others also find it interesting?

If anyone started a thread on tooth fairies, santa or leprechauns you would either ignore it or quickly lose interest, but you have no choice when it comes to these eternal matters because deep down you (and others) know it is real and you are in this 'for keeps'.

Thanks for the question, as the Bible is primarily a guide for mankind and His relationship with God then it isn't surprising that this and many other worthy questions are not specifically covered; but this entry in 'Got Questions' provides some comments that you may find helpful:-
The Bible states that both man (Genesis 2:7) and animals (Genesis 1:30; 6:17; 7:15, 22) have the “breath of life”; that is, both man and animals are living beings. The primary difference between human beings and animals is that humanity is made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26–27), but animals are not. Being made in the image and likeness of God means that human beings are like God in some ways: they have a mind, emotion, and will; they are capable of reason and creativity; and they have a spiritual part that continues after death. If animals, including our pets, do have a soul or spirit (an immaterial aspect), it must therefore be of a different and lesser quality. This difference possibly means that animal souls do not continue in existence after death.
God created the animals as part of His “very good” creation (Genesis 1:31). Later, when it came time to rid the world of mankind’s wickedness through the global flood, God preserved the animal kingdom. They were important enough in God’s plan to issue this command to Noah: “You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you” (Genesis 6:19). Of course, this doesn’t mean that our pets are in heaven, but it does show that God cares about animals and that a world without animals is contrary to His plan.
All of creation, including the animals, was affected by mankind’s fall and suffers because of our sin. But there is a promised restoration: “Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay” (Romans 8:20–21, NLT). One day, God’s creation will experience “freedom” and share in the glory of the children of God. Does this mean that animals who have died will be resurrected? Possibly, but the passage does not explicitly say that.
There will definitely be animals on earth during the millennial kingdom. Wolves, leopards, goats, cows, lions, bears, cobras, and vipers are all mentioned (Isaiah 11:6–8). No matter how dangerous some of those animals may be in today’s world, in the millennium, “they will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain” (Isaiah 11:9; cf. 65:25). There is no reason why there could not be pets or animals on the new earth, too (Revelation 21:1).

I wasn’t suggesting it for my own benefit. I just thought the conversation would gain more traction if we removed the religious angle and took it from there.
That said, I am keen to hear from other non-religious folk who are open to the suggestion of life after death.

Well create a godless, soulless thread to mirror the LAD you are hoping for and see how much traction you get.

The Truth would actually set you free, yet:-
1. You offer only a secular point of view every time you post, hence everything from nothing.
2. You constantly accuse those who are theistic of carpet bombing the discussions while you carpet bomb every thread with your own empty and unexplained secular world view.

1. I have never suggested that everything came from nothing so you are either dishonest or deluded.
2. I have only ever accused YOU of carpet-bombing this message board with Biblical quotes. And it's 100% true.
You really must make an effort to be more accurate and honest in your posts. This is like shooting fish in a barrel!
As for your comment to me a few posts earlier in this thread (and copied below) it's hilarious:

Re: "I'm convinced that death is not the end for us whatever happens after that"
The most comical thing about truthpaste's recent posts is that on the one hand he tells me that I think something came from nothing (and without me making a comment to that effect) and on the other hand he seems to suggest that 'deep down' I know 'it' (presumably his deity but apologies if I'm wrong) is 'real'.
You couldn't make it up! He's so immersed in his own belief sysytem that he is a mind-reader and contradictory to boot. It's very bizarre and hardly rational.

More rational than someone replying to their own comments and also providing a commentary for any readers who may be confused.
I am stating that your world view is everything from nothing; which means now you have the perfect opportunity to get the slam-dunk you've been waiting for; demonstrate that your world view isn't everything from nothing and then you can drop the mic.
Few people will be holding their breath :sherlock:

So, in this example, if you've never suggested that everything came from nothing, can you elucidate further on the subject perhaps?

Very amusing, everyone has a world view, in many cases it may not be well thought out and can often involve lots of wishful thinking, and individuals have no verified or logical reasons for believing it, but you can be sure you have one.
So far you (from your many hundreds of comments on this issue have made it very clear) want your world view to include:-
1. The origin of life cannot NOT be anything to do with any supreme deity who I may meet in the future.
2. The purpose of my life is my choice and nobody else has (or will have) any say in this unless I say so.
3. Life will hopefully end at the moment my heart ceases to function.
Anyone who says anything different to the above is crazy, a religious nut, misinformed, or all three.

Yet another one of your snide comments.
If you remember, you started this thread in response to my beliefs that death is not the end for us, which I detailed in another thread. I made it quite clear then that I didn't believe LAD needed to involve any kind of deity. As for soulless? Well, define soul. If consciousness and the soul are one and the same thing, then how can there be a soulless LAD?
There is nothing in your thread title that says this thread is about God. So, why should there be any point in starting another thread? It's as though you are wanting to see which thread becomes the most popular. Grow up.
I suggested trying to steer this conversation away from God (there are plenty of other threads on that topic already), for your benefit in order try and dive a bit deeper on the possibility of LAD.

Ok, well we agree that physical life is NOT the end for any of us; so let's quit the ping pong comments and let's hear how your (so far unexplained) desire to have this LAD without such a being (who has designed us that way) works and WHY we are beings that will all experience this?

Who made you 'god' (?)
About science you said, "It is the antithesis of *religion".
This has already been proven nonsense time and time again with examples such as Maury (Psalm8v8) given for you to read** and then ignore.
*We are only using your understanding of religion in this context.
**God the Creator of all things has clearly demonstrated that the Bible is there to lift the reader to the greatest purpose they can have.

Science has you boxed in on this one, it has rejected the steady state theory. So everthing including time, space and matter must have a beginning that originates away from the known Universe (this dimension).
So either name that timeless source or stop blathering on for attention.

Why should I when all you are going to do is quote a 2000+ year old book with no proof?
Our collective consciousness has always existed and always will. Ummm... a bit like what you will say about God. Just take out the 'God' element and I think we will agree on most things. Try replacing the word 'God' with 'collective consciousness' in any of your beliefs and you will find that it works. The only difference between my and your beliefs is that mine are backed up by science and first hand accounts whereas yours are backed up by a 2000+ year old book and NOTHING else.

There are lots of subjects that I have never commented on in this forum but if directly asked to elucidate on something I'd at least have a go, even if the answer might be "I don't know" rather than question the questioner in an attempt to avoid answering the question!*
I'd never make a politician of course.
