With a minimum figure of 10%.
Only based on goods - not services.
Nothing to do with what the tarrifs are applied on the US by those other countries, just purely based on trade deficit. So not entirely sure how they are supposed to be reciprocal.
Yeah they had a formula on Newsnight late night but no one could make too much sense of it. It's like tariffs + trade deficit - lines on the US flag + the RAL colour of Donald's face.
I do think within a few months though the US may well have better terms of trade than they did at the beginning of this week and the ongoing uncertainty will lead to some on-shoring of jobs to US factories

Why listen to filtered and likely biased news when you can get it directly from the horses mouth? The liberal media hate Trump and they would take great pleasure in helping to bring about his downfall.

Still on the fence I see. Wonder why there’s no tariffs for Russia?

Same applies to the right wing media, they are all full of it. In 2025 you shouldn't need any news organisation to tell you what is going on.

Of course it is important to listen to the serial liar, with little grasp of details, who changes his mind depending on who last had an audience to flatter him, and whose mental faculties are rapidly following what we now know as ‘the Biden Curve’.
Maybe a horse would be a more reliable source of information?
If you had said we should listen to the ideologues behind the policy - like Stephen Miller or Peter Navarro - then I would agree.
There is surely a plan behind the Tariff Wars. For Trump it is a headline, a way of getting world leaders to fawn over him, and a short term bonanza to fund tax cuts for his rich mates. Although he talks about recreating the US manufacturing sector of the 1950s I doubt that is really the endgame. Can’t happen anyway.
The brains behind the throne have a political vision to be achieved by economic disruption. I would be amazed if Trump understands or cares about where it is going. It is about a different group of actors in control of the neo liberal circus - not an end to it.

Why do people need journalistic spin when they can listen to the actual press conferences?

Trump, like you, has no understanding of basic macroeconomics. He doesn't understand the importance of including services in measuring trade deficits and the idea of the balance of payments would probably blow his (and your) mind.
Basic facts may stymie your sycophantic ravings. Like, tariffs on US goods were running in low single digits in most cases. So, Trump imposed 20% tariffs on countries that had 2% tariffs on US goods. That isn't reciprocal. What's his "phenomenal" deal going to be? He'll cut his tariff to 10% if the other country cuts theirs to 1%?
The "formula" for the tariffs was clearly made up by Musk's kid with his crayons on his visit to the Oval Office. (Actually, the BBC has clearly defined the lunatic method.)
You just can't stop lauding Trump. You're his useful idiot on here.

Yes I wrote about what they put on newsnight in the hope that Trump would see it on this message board and it would benefit me.

No , you either post messages of love to all these fat right wing clowns on here or read something about them and put your own , unique slant on it
Which , like them , is right wing
It's boring and predictable but like rat in the farmers yard you need to be shot at every time you do it

Writing what happened on newsnight isn't a sign a love Sludge, nor is it right-wing, nor as it goes are tariffs.
I can only assume you have been single a long time?

I did watch the weather forecast after newsnight tonight. A moderate breeze tomorrow from the East, or the far-right as you call it.

Donald is taking one massive gamble !
just reading about Russia on here pretty sure they are still on embargos regarding trade hence why they are not on list

Apparently, there’s still $3.5 billion worth of trade with Russia despite the embargoes - that’s a fraction of what it used to be, but more than many countries he slapped tariffs on. Thanks for answering my question as I knew Gluey would ignore it.
