Re: The Donald Trump thread
Carney wins his election by 2.5 per cent and the man baby says it’s “almost even” and yet his win in November by 1.5 per cent is a “landslide” :hehe:
Re: The Donald Trump thread
That’s a trump in a nutshell. You can’t even call it spin - just outright lies.

You might like this one. A few weeks ago, when they deported that dad and said he was in MS13, trumps team made a Photoshop of a tattoo allegedly on his knuckles. Each symbol was supposedly M S 1 or 3. So they helpfully printed each letter above the symbol to illustrate it clearly.
Trump seems to believe, very very adamantly, that the letters and numbers were actual tattoos.

TRUMP: He had MS-13 on his knuckles, tattooed!

MORAN: That was photoshopped

TRUMP: Terry, they're giving you the big break of a lifetime. I picked you. Mind you, this is the same guy who expressed disbelief and admiration that his son could switch on a laptop.

Nothing surprises me about him any more

I dunno, I thought the interviewer was trying to move on while Trump was the one going back to the topic, and looping the rope round his own neck.

As for bleating, there was lots of bleating once the reality set in post-brexit. The pathetic talk of the EU 'punishing us' was flowing from previously overconfident brexiteers on a daily basis. I didn't describe the process of us enacting Brexit as bleating, that wouldn't even make sense.

US President Donald Trump has issued an executive order calling for all federal funding to the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and National Public Radio (NPR) to be blocked.
On Thursday evening, Trump alleged that both organisations have engaged with "biased and partisan news coverage".

I don't think that shouting fascist all the time is necessarily helpful but surely most of us can agree that this is some authoritarian shit

That is a shame.
I used to watch PBS a lot and donated to it on their many telethons.
In a strange new world to me for a good few years after moving here…it was a tonic to be able to watch something like “Open All Hours” or “Yes Minister” not to mention Bob Ross, The Woodwright's Shop and the Ken Burns documentaries.
NPR was also a good listen in the car as the news in the GW Bush era was no better then than it is now (Dan Rather aside).
I would say that it is left leaning but not overwhelmingly so compared to the likes of MSNBC or CNN.
It’s also debatable how valuable they are with evolving forms of media but it is a petty move IMO.

Ken Burns made some terrific documentaries about the American Civil War, the expansion of Europeans at the expense of native Americans and a lot else.
PBS is available via the general Sky package, by the way - but you may not come across it by accident. Subscribing to it's website provided the content for the coming week.
Re: The Donald Trump thread
Can’t give Trump the same amount of credit for this one as you can Canada, but, no doubt, he did his bit to help with this one as well - the man’s a genius.

His documentaries are indeed fantastic.
It’s good to see that they have a revenue stream from Sky.
I don’t think that they were hugely funded by the government hence the constant fundraising efforts that they did.
Cheeky Fu**ers told me over 20 years ago when I called in that $5 was below the minimum that they could accept!

Autocorrect seems to have changed 'its' to the contraction of 'it is'!

Welcome to the grammatical minefield. After all, who doesn't enjoy calling a pedant a Pedant?

PBS isn't left-leaning. It's establishment and centrist.
CNN and MSNBC are just anti-Trump.

I guess that depends on your definition of left leaning.
MSNBC and CNN I would certainly say are liberal. I would say the same about the WP and NYT too.
According to “All Sides”, PBS was Centrist and started leaning left around 2022.
My Wife and I now use the Ground News app.

Again, if Marvel had a new superhero called "The Pedant", then his or her power would be pedantry!
