Political leaders will make noise of international law and sovereignty but unless you are able to enforce or defend it it's all for nothing.
What I would say is unlike the rather messy, cumbersome approach of the past and Russia's own attempts in Ukraine, this seems to have been extremely well planned and rather "clean".
It's a dubious honour in having better invaded another sovereign state than another invader - and the long-term ramifications are yet to unfurl.

I'm sure Trump would love to have an insurrection taking place on home soil, he would be in his element.

Re: The Donald Trump thread
The situation whereby the world's superpowers, oil states and oligarchs (whether the latter be Russian, US-based or otherwise) are carving up the world simply reminds me how ludicrous the WEF conspiracy theorists have been on this message board over the years.
It was such a laughable concept that old men across the global political divides would profit from destroying the world's economy but at least two extremely frequent posters swallowed it whole.

Russia invaded Ukraine, and they have faced sanctions ever since (well the second time). So it clearly wasn't considered a legitimate course of action at the time.
America has done it now and are seemingly saying it's fine for bigger countries to impose their will on weaker neighbours.

The 80 people that died and their families would probably disagree with your definition of clean

The WEF lost influence when Kamala failed to win, ditto the EU globalists. We are now living in interesting times as they say.

Amazing isn't it. After spewing out years of hogwash that The Great Reset was unstoppable because of the all powerful hidden forces it appears that the line is now that Davos gang were so impotent that they couldn't even fix an election won by a couple of hundred thousand votes in some swing states.

So the people who, according to you lot, fixed the 2020 election decided not to bother in 2024?

It was a totally different ground game.

Re: The Donald Trump thread
When Trump was re-elected, if someone had been saying that just 1 year into this term he'd be threatening invasion of Greenland, actually invading a South American country to depose its president so the US could exploit their mineral resources, and have gangs of thugs summarily executing people in the US without any fear of retribution then I'd have thought that was extreme paranoia

There's one huge difference between now and 1939. Then, as now, we had a powerful White Supremacist, Fascist, rogue state threatening global expansion through land grab, authoritarian control, mistreatment of minorities and all of this while abandoning international law.
Then we had a coalition of allies capable of thwarting the Fascists militarily and economically.
Now the Fascists have taken over the only World Superpower and there is no counterforce currently available militarily to stop them. One can only hope the rest of the World is frantically thinking on its feet.

Donald is old though, in 3 years he will be gone and a democratic government will probably win and start to undo all his good work.

I wouldn't call these kind of takes mental gymnastics. It just requires switching off your brain. Russia, China and others have nuclear weapons and are almost untouchable by the US. Their governments also do far far worse things, millions just choose to ignore them.

No wanking involved. I have just opened an atlas past the first page and am aware that countries other than the United States exist. It helps with getting things in context. 👍

Masturbation is good for repressing fascist thoughts.
Yes I'm aware other countries other than the USA exist today (and I didn't even need to open an atlas) but of course one by one the USA is gobbling up said countries day by day it seems. That atlas will be (bigly) out of date in just a few months Don will tell you.

I mean, America has gobbled up no countries, there has been no fascist takeover and the world does have counterbalances in the form of the countries mentioned, as well as much of the state apparatus in the United States, which is lacking in those countries. Far worse happens in other countries, people just turn a blind eye.

You obviously missed Venezuela, where have you been?
Much to your chagrin it definitely IS a fascist administration and you know very well with a wild man like Trump in charge only military force will stop him and there is no alliance that can achieve that. I'll ignore your silly example of whataboutism in your last paragraph.
