Unfortunately I’ve had a sinking feeling this would be the outcome since Bellingham pulled that strike out his arse against Slovakia.
England peaking at the right time and Spain not quite hitting the heights as consistently as they were earlier in the tournament, I can see the 88th minute 1-0 winner now.

I’m pretty sure Michael Oliver awarded a penalty in an EPL game, was called to the screen to review it but stuck with his original decision. That’s the only example I can think of.
I’ve said it many, many times, but I firmly believe VAR should be scrapped completely. I can’t stand it.

Seconded.
The system they have in in rugby works well, but VAR is a disaster.

most England fans I know are now hoping that Kane is dropped for the final (although they know he won't be)
it's clear England have a much better shape when he isn't on the pitch.
I've been saying it since the first match of the tournament

He ambles around like an old man at times.
Looks a shadow of the player who's terrorised the Bundesliga.

Re: EUROS FINAL. ENGLAND v SPAIN
Was flying last night during the game so 1st time I've seen the highlights this morning.
Read the comments here 1st and was expecting some horror decision against the Dutch.
As soon as VAR gets involved that's a pen. He's studs up. Others have said to be fair there be no complaints outside the box.
It's soft but with the rules and VAR it's hardly the horror decision some are making out.

I think if they give each team 2 VAR appeals per game they can use, it would be much better. default to the on field decision and if there's a dubious call the team can request a car review

I agree with this. I think it's just down to anything that the FA, FIFA, UEFA touch turns to sh*t. It should be an amazing piece of technology. See cricket, tennis and rugby. Think about that Chelsea goal when we were in the PL. Everyone was screaming for it then.

I understand what you're saying, but England played their best 45 minutes of the tournament during the first half last night with Kane on the pitch. He was fouled for the penalty and scored it. There's also a reasonable chance that he could end up with the Golden Boot on Sunday.
My feeling was that he played well enough last night overall and the shape of the team was good until the Dutch closed down the midfield, but I felt he should have come off earlier.

That Greece win was something else. I loved that tournament.

You know Kane will now score the winner in the final don't you?! It is written.

There was no clear and obvious error, so it shouldn't have been given.
Typing error surely?
How anywhere else on the pitch and it's a free kick to the Dutch?

If it happened anywhere else on the pitch I suppose it could be considered a late tackle even though it was Kane who actually made the contact. However, in this instance, Kane had had his shot and the ball was out of play.

Re: EUROS FINAL. ENGLAND v SPAIN
I've never been a fan of VAR and would welcome scrapping it
It makes as many errors as without VAR
Its taken the excitement from scoring a goal
I don't see how some games in the FA Cup can use it and some don't, how is that allowed?
Refs hide behind it, and officiating as a whole has got a lot worse

I didn't write that as I was thinking it in my head.
Kane beat Dumfries to the ball by a split second resulting in Dumfries getting kicked.. Dumfries was trying to get the ball and didn't hamper Kane in taking the shot. As for his studs being up, I don't know where else they're supposed to be.

Re: EUROS FINAL. ENGLAND v SPAIN
It was a goal that deserved to win any game so in the end I think England deserved it.
This 'anywhere else on the pitch' argument is a load of rubbish though. Its a ball that's dropping a few yards from goal. Am looking forward to the applause when we see City's defenders not challenging to block any shots in the box next season, just in case they touch the striker's foot afterwards.

Why f*ck about with the game in the first place, refs make mistakes, players make more mistakes, that was part of the game. Fans used to spontaneously celebrate goals, that’ll most probably soon gradually phase out. Linesmen used to immediately stick their flag up for an infringement or an offside, now you see it go up 20/30 seconds after, why? Why has the simple game become complicated ?

If they go in with studs up, miss the ball and make contact with the opponent, there’s a good chance they’ll concede a penalty. There are ways and means of blocking shots. Going in with studs up is not the best of them.
