Despite the recent successes, I still want Slade replaced

We haven't spent the top 6 transfers fees, we don't have a top 6 wage bill and the club has been in disarray due to the rebrand and Ole's **** ups. You are either deluded or just too stubborn with your dislike of slade.

Slade and the club made no secret of that being the expectation, the plan.

When judging Slade's performance and ability to take us forward we need to remember that he inherited a lot of very decent players who are either premiership or top six championship quality; Marshall, Manga, Whittingham, Kenwynne Jones

Off the top of my head, I'd say with Dave Jones - Gunter, Blake (despite all of the self inflicted damage), Ramsey and Matthews, while players such as Joe Jacobson and Aaron Wildig have had what I would call decent careers.

With Malky Mackay, Joe Ralls for sure and I'd say Deji, Declan John and Tommy O'Sullivan could end up having decent careers, but they'll probably have to leave Cardiff with the current manager in charge to do so - Ben Nugent can still have a decent career as well.

Well it's certainly giving youth more of a chance than it's got so far under this manager.

Tandy says we've only played three cup games under Russell Slade's management - he's wrong, we've played five and in none of them have we seen anything like the sort of selections we got used to seeing from Dave Jones and Malky Mackay in comparable matches.

Also, Ledley, Jerome, Gunter, Blake, Ramsey, Matthews, Ralls and John did or have done far more than just play "the odd cup game" for City.

So in all that time we have produced One player of premier league quality and 3 good enough for the championship currently.
This is not where they were when burst into the team it's not they have had that experience. there are probably some good players in the academy problem is there are lots of good players who won't make it in the game.
The whole youth debate seems a bit irrelevant if these players were better than what we have they would be in the team.

I like Slade and the fact we are even in with a chance of the play offs show he has done a good job.

Replacing Slade would be madness.

Sure I get pissed off when we lose or play poorly etc but look at the big picture and the job he's done.

He has worked miracles. Complete miracles. Barely spent any money, got rid of a lot of the high earners, been hit with a transfer embargo and we sit 2 points outside the playoff zone with 7 games to go.

It's all to play for and Slade deserves every credit for getting us to that point.

We even play with no strikers and get results. Still can't believe there hasn't been a song made up about that (beating teams and scoring goals with no strikers).

I think those that are applauding Russ are forgetting the quality of players he inherited. A decent manager would have got us promoted automatically with that squad.

I meant by that, that we were a decent side when we got promoted, and then splashed out big money on a new spine of the team, and in doing so lost a degree of what had put us there in the first place. Then when it was all going wrong we compounded the error by buying more and more inappropriate players while we continued to drop down the league.

To me if we went up (which I don't for a second think we will) then the manager will have been a huge part of that, and replacing him would be a huge mistake, like the one we made last time. We would need to build on the foundation we have, not hurriedly try to do something different.
Slade is far from perfect, but if he got us promoted I think it would be very foolish to replace him.

I agree ,also look at the dross Slade has signed when given a transfer kitty I'll take strikers as example : Revell,Doyle, Saadi(injury prone so hard to judge) and Ameobi (if you count him as a striker ) all nowhere near good enough for top level championship. So by the time the next transfer window comes and it's time to imrove the squad (we will have to regardless which league we are in) then is Slade the man to do this ? IMO NO

This thread is really funny :hehe:. I gave my opinion quite early on in it while saying that I didn't want to go over old ground again regarding Russell Slade's attitude to youth development.

I only got involved again when someone made the ludicrous claim, in my view at least, that Russell Slade "has done about as much with the youth team as the last 4 managers before him did". I showed that all of our previous four managers did something that our current one has not yet (given a debut to an Academy player in a league, or League/FA Cup game) and then had to face arguments that the twenty seven examples of this happening when Messrs Lawrence, Jones, Mackay and Solskjaer were in charge that I provided were somehow on a par with the none under Russell Slade because the club was desperate when they picked them, some of these players were later loaned out, some of them had ginger hair, some of them once drove through Swansea and so on :hehe::hehe:.

Now it seems that Slade is right because we have only produced one Aaron Ramsey and a few players that I wouldn't mind having back here at all (Gunter, Ledley, Jerome and Matthews) since we were given Academy status and so, having only raised the subject to try and correct a claim which I believed to be completely wrong, I'm now having to try and explain why we don't have a youth system which rivals Southampton's!

Can I ask all of those rushing to defend a manager who I rate the worst I've seen at Cardiff, when it comes to youth development at least, what you think the point of a youth system is and also under what circumstances would you be prepared to give a locally produced 18 year old a taste of first team football because, reading some of the comments in this thread, it seems that there'll always be some excuse or another as to why it shouldn't happen under this manager.

Everything Slade has done since he joined the club you have criticised whether it be transfers, tactics, formations, substitutions, boring football, not watching the Academy, this list is endless. Now that he has turned most things around and got us within touching distance you still want to find faults with the bloke.
Let me ask you a question... if you were Slade what first team member would you replace with an Academy player?

For 3 years I've been hearing how great our squad is but 2 managers later we've had to ship most of it out for free. We massively overrated the squad that got relegated imo.

How can anyone expect Slade to Have Premier League experience if he is not given the opportunity to practice his trade/craft in the Premier League?

I think he`s done a good job and deserves a crack next year what ever league we are in.(I doubt we will go up)
The long and short of it to the majority of fans is the result of the game.
Many clubs in disarray continue the downward spiral , he stopped that and turned it around.
I`m willing to say I wanted him gone, but under what seems like continued pressure from a part of our fan base that thinks we are some huge club that deserves another go in the greedy league, he has delivered stability and now progress.

I agree with most of this although I've never been desperate to see Slade go.

He's stabilised the club and making a decent crack of it when I personally feared the worst. For me he deserves another go next year whatever league we are in. If I saw another club sack them from the outside I'd think they were being crazy.

I enjoy watching the City been to 30 games this season and am probably more in touch with the grass roots than you are but you are still backing a loser in Slade. Time will prove me right , just watch.
