Well you are wrong mate as the Tories brought in incapacity , and tribunals and interviews have been going on for years , I should know , I have helped loads through the process.....ESA under labour was merely a name change

As for pip even if you are a Tory and by voting for them you have helped them bring this in to replace DLA , if you need an experienced advice and welfare benefits worker to help get the person involved through just drop me a PM and I will give you her number ....believe me you are going to need her help , I am no longer up to date and this woman is top notch on the legal aspect

Thanks regarding the PIP person Sludge. I may well do this. Looking at the forms they are very similar to the last set of DLA forms I did nearly 10 years ago,but those took me weeks trying to get the phraseology right.Found a very good web site which was invaluable.


Regarding ESA,yes I am aware that John Major brought them in, and yes tribunals and assessments were always there but Labour brought in the Work Capability Assessment in 2008 which was far more stringent than the All Work Test introduced with IB in 1995 and meant that everyone had to go through the face to face Assessment which had been far from the case with IB.

This widening of the assessment process was brought into the DLA replacement PIP by the coalition, which is why I said Labour breached the dyke.

First of all. There is a difference between an individuals moral compass and what is illegal/legal. Many things are legal which I deem to be wrong, and vice versa.

Secondly I think it is important for the country to know what they are voting for. The Tory party and current government claims to be fully against and tackling aggressive tax avoidance but their leader grew up in a family where avoiding UK tax was seen as a sensible decision.

This 5000 shares thing is very convenient for DC because it allows him the opportunity to draw a line under this whole issue, when in reality the story was never about his own dealings but his fathers and how they may have affected DC's life chances/moral compass with regards to tax avoidance.

None of these stories are being peddled by the Tory haters but by the Tory supporting press. Certainly something fishy going on. Someone somewhere has flicked a switch to say Cameron is suddenly fair game after years of protection.

Brexit is going on. Most of the right wing press are Brexit supporters.

The Press and the Tory Party know that Cameron is going to leave meaning the knives are out for an early departure especially if he loses the referendum. The odd thing is that Cameron has done nothing wrong and seemingly is being criticised for the tax practices of his father.

Perhaps Cameron should have kept his gob shot then instead of rushing into criticise Jimmy Carr's tax affairs. Besides when our PrimeMinister insists we are all in it together and is then implicated in morally dubious activities it leaves a sour taste especially at a time when money is being clawed back from the disabled and foodbanks are growing in numbers.

Not me or you. But it is far more common than you would think. There are 715000 millionaires in the UK.

With regards to the tax planning, I think it is wrong that you can buy your way out of tax. Know the right Accountant and he will save you a good chunk of money. These schemes should either be common place or outlawed, not for those with the money and the nous. Not a little trick for people to use

Guy who pays 38% tax on his income criticises someone who only paid 1% on his income. Think that is a fair criticism. Even if he had used some schemes before, there is a difference between tax planning and aggressive tax avoidance.

Considering he earned over 200k, 38% isn't enough.. Last I checked the higher tax band was 45%.

I was listening to a tax specialist on the radio first thing this morning who said, that on the information given by him so far, Cameron has done nothing wrong, but he was puzzled why he hadn't just published his tax return, because he said failing to do so after going so far will only attract more questions - the rather colourful turn of phrase he used which made me grateful I hadn't ate anything after getting up was that it was as if Cameron was doing the dance of the seven veils :hehe:.
