First half the defence was all over the place with players not knowing who to pick up. That's got to be on the coaching.
Second half much better and deserved a point. Keep up the second half showing and we'll be okay
Salech was superb tonight, I kept screaming at the TV for the players to get crosses in, he was dominant in the air.
Much better 2nd half, but it's what we had to do. We had to put more pressure on Burnley because we were losing, we certainly didn't do it at 0-0. Burnley decided to sit in and offer us on. My disappointment is that there's a common theme to this. We go behind by probably playing a bit to deeply, then there's the reaction to it, and it looks better than it is because teams protect leads, so we have more of the ball. That's not to say that there's not some good play in all of that, because there is, but i don't know why we weren't a bit braver this evening, i'm a bit disappointed at that result.
We have Robinson and Salech. We should really be going at teams now, we cannot defend, we have two proper goalscorers. How about we play to our strengths?
I’m sorry but tonight’s result totally belongs to Riza, negative first half, wrong players, wrong tactics, Burnley played wide and we played narrow. So much better in the 2nd half but still basic failings, unable to beat the first man at corners, unwilling to get the ballin the box early, beating a man, then going around to try & beat him again, too slow in getting the ball forward, so many under hit passes. Burnley were on the ropes and we barely tested them.
There was a period where Burnley were struggling a bit, so much so that they started knocking Long balls to nobody, which is a huge indication that they were rattled. They stiffened up th midfield though with a couple of subs and plugged a hole that we were trying to exploit. Like i said, i'm a bit disappointed, we should have really turned the screw, and we shouldn't have been in the position of being 2-0 down at home.
Agree- we had a go in the last 15 mins but that should be expected from a home side in a relegation battle- no complaints about the result. Burnley could have been out of sight soon after half time and there was too much wrong with the performance to say we deserved a point. That said, what a performance from Salech.
Bringing Fish on at half time was an admission that Riza got the defensive selection wrong to start with, was disappointed to see Ashford replaced, but, to be fair, we played better with all of the subs on than we did at any other time in the game.
"unable to beat the first man at corners" yes all down to Riza. Fancy asking one of Wales' best ever internationals to take a corner.
"Burnley were on the ropes and we barely tested them" not true they were on the ropes because we outplayed them for the last 25 mins.
A difficult one to sum up. Gave them far too much respect, yes they are a decent side and their movement, technical ability and passing was excellent at times but it proved, when we had no option but to take them on, that they were fallible and rattled. Overall we did ok and could have nicked a point but with the players we have, why don’t we get on the front foot? We can’t defend and we can’t prevent crosses so let’s get in their half.

I thought it was quite an entertaining game. And it's encouraging that despite being two goals down we managed to get back into the game and stay in the game until the very end. We were well worth a point. It makes a changes to be more upset about the result than the performance. Reading some of the incredulous posts in this thread and others over the past few weeks it seems we have a few posters that still haven't grasped the fact that we're not very good.
Ashford put over one cross which was well over hit and I’m not sure where he was for the first Burnley goal, is that enough to make him “generally poor”? After a couple of games in January where he looked like he was running into some form, El-Ghazi has reverted to the player we saw up to Christmas I’m afraid - I’d say he did a bit better than normal last night, but Ashford does more than him defensively, puts more crosses over and contributes more goals and assists.
One stage in the first half the Burnley left back took a knock and could barely stand up let alone run. Not once did we get the ball over to that side and run at him in that period so frustrating. Also not sure what Ashford did when running at goal in the first half - seemed to trip over the ball? Gutted not to have tanner and Alves as options at the moment, not saying they are the answer but they offer genuine pace in behind teams that nobody else offers currently.
This is how I saw it, don’t get me wrong I was pleased with the second half performance, but for the life of me I just can’t understand why we set up the way we did to start the match?
I said before the game on here that we’re playing Burnley not Barcelona, we set up far too defensively and the problem is we can’t defend properly!
Great second half and we were unlucky not to grab a point, but we have to be on the front foot from the start if we want to put some distance between us and the bottom three
The way the left back was hobbling around, I thought he would be subbed off any minute
Even when he got involved and passed forward it was obvious that he was still trying to run off his injury, and yet not one of our coaching staff were up screaming at the players to get the ball across to our right side????
Result aside. Isn’t it nice to finally have a striker that has that natural goal scoring instinct and the knack of being in the right place at the right time? Build around Salech. Man will score 20 a season if we get him service.
