Morrison can say goodnight to Player of the year. Awful both ends.

Nothing to do with tactics. Fulham are patently better than us. Anyway the championship is more fun than the prem!!

Re: CARDIFF CITY v FULHAM. Matchday thread
Is it worth turning up for the second leg?
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v FULHAM. Matchday thread
Well that’s that then.
At 1-0 I thought we may have a chance at Craven Cotrage...sadly not now I fear.
Not one of our players played well.
Not only were they lacking in composure and ideas but also in energy.
Maybe the efforts of the last few weeks caught up with them.
Stranger things have happened though and we should go out all guns blazing on Thursday.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v FULHAM. Matchday thread
It’s all over now, Baby Blue...

Re: CARDIFF CITY v FULHAM. Matchday thread
Better team won let’s be fair. Not to be defeatist but think it’s a case of looking towards next season now, try and build on the lockdown restart for a push next year.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v FULHAM. Matchday thread
Only consolation is that Swansea will not beat Fulham

You don't see many worse performances over 45 minutes, we did nothing. Why Pack has worked his way in I'm not sure.
Very poor.

We not beat Brentford yet.

The white hot favourites have to be west London’s imo.
In a way they feel like West Ham that one season we met them in the play offs.

They will somehow, Fulham will lose a player for starters, every jack will play out of his skin, the polar opposite of what we did tonight.
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v FULHAM. Matchday thread
Bit of a waste of time that second half, seemed happy at 0-1 and it is a difficult balance between pushing to get into the game and losing more goals but I feel we were far too pedestrian.
Very similar to the game at Fulham the other week, not just the score.
We responded well following that result so lets hope for something to make Thursday interesting, very very hard to see if happening though.
Fair play to Fulham, just far better on the night.

They are a better team, reckon their wage bill will say that too

Just remember when we played Stoke in the playoffs at NP with a lead and fecked it up. It ain't over yet, big mountain yes but still doable.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v FULHAM. Matchday thread
Had our chance in the first half.
Chasing shadows in the second.
Best team won.

Aye, arguably underachieved not going up top two this season.
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v FULHAM. Matchday thread
Just me that thought the referee was a one-eyed **** then
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v FULHAM. Matchday thread
Well, that looked like a team who ran out steam after 20 minutes.
Fulham look average, we were invisible.

It has EVERYTHING to do with tactics.
How many long balls did you see Fulham play? How much possession football did you see us play by passing and moving?
I don’t think that their players are necessarily better than ours, but they have been coached on the basics of football: pass, move, pass,
move, keep the ball, make the other team work to gain possession, not play endless long balls where the chances of maintaining possession are dramatically less.
Who plays like that these days apart from us?
It is EVERYTHING to do with tactics.
If Fulham, Swansea and Brentford can do it, then why can’t our players? Because we have a manager that want to play another way.

Embarrassing.
Pretty much

Oh he definitely was but no big decisions so it didn't stand out.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v FULHAM. Matchday thread
Pato should have started.
Don’t care if he’s not got the quality, he would have done more than some of those out there today

Fulham have been spending good money on quality footballers for a decade. Brentford have been bringing in quick, skillful players slowly over 3/4 yrs. Swansea have had excellent scouting links and a good reputation for football which enables them to get good Prem. prospects on loan. Compare that to us. The players have given their all, but we are a very long way away from those 3..

Anything can happen, saw one of the league 2 clubs this year in the semi turn around a similar result away. We are going to have to come up with something very different to our other matches against them this season though as they clearly have our number along with obviously being the better team.
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v FULHAM. Matchday thread
Basically a repeat of the last league game against them. Totally outclassed. Shame about the 2 chances in the first half though. At least no embarrassing defeat against the Jacks in the final now!

So frustrating how much respect we seemed to give them.
That back line is made up of ex Bolton, Sheffield Weds, Middlesbrough and Bristol City. We stood off them and half assed closed them down like they were Real Madrid.
Don't want to dig out one player either as they were all bad but if Pack plays another game for City it is one game too many.
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v FULHAM. Matchday thread
Probably as well to get the crushing disappointment over early.
Awful second half. Lost to the much better team tonight.

Can’t say that I noticed.
(I was more overwhelmed at how poor we were in the second half - nothing to do with the ref)

Their players are clearly better than ours. They won all the individual battles this evening.

Why? He doesn't hold the ball up, he doesn't win the aerial battles.

Swansea have got a cobbled together side built around one quality player and scraped into the playoffs by a miracle.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v FULHAM. Matchday thread
Wonder when that smug Bristol City fan will turn up? Haven't had a peep from him for a while!
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v FULHAM. Matchday thread
Tomlin should have gone at half time, he was a passenger in the 2nd have & we played 10 v 11. It should have been all over in the first 15 minutes, we had 3 good chances. From the first break onwards we looked like it was a game too far.
I'd change half the team for the 2nd leg. Give some different faces and fresh legs a go at it. We're 2 down and on our way out so give them something different to think about.
Flint up front :)
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v FULHAM. Matchday thread
If that’s the best we can give in a play off game then maybe we are better off not going up. We could be humiliated in the Premier League.
Harris has done really well to get us up to fifth. If we can find / loan a talented young a striker then we might be better next season
