Well, you’ve certainly been doing plenty of guessing already in this thread, so I suppose one more won’t make much difference.

How to go from I know more than I am letting on, but this could potentially be devastating for the BBC if it plays out in a certain way to "it looks as though" and "my guess is in 24 hours.
Whether this person will be punished by law I can't see any winners in this. At its heart is an estranged broken family in an alien world of lawyers and massive corporations. Their lives are unlikely to come out better than before the story broke. Probably cast aside by the protagonists with little thought for their welfare.
Regardless of whether a criminal act has taken place, if there is truth in the allegations then it is not easy to see how the presenter didn't bring his employer into disrepute by his actions and his position is likely to be untenable in the way that Schofield's became.
The BBC will be under the spotlight for the speed and transparency it dealt with any initial complaint and the Sun for whether their agenda and dislike of all things BBC clouded their editorial judgement in how they handled the case, the pre-print denial by the lawyers for the teenager as was and the balance between the right to privacy and the public interest.
All speculation but I find it a really sad tale in the salacious world we now live in.

I got it from the BBC. The family contacted the BBC on 19th March and they never heard back from them. They only sprung into action after the Sun article appeared. The same article also prompted Person X to make contact with the young person by phone. However, they didn't mention who is paying for the multinational law firm that are assisting the young person.

I'm sticking to what is being reported in the media.

You mean 19 May don’t you? Everything I’ve read says that the parents first contacted the BBC in May.

Re: Gary Lineker, Rylan Clark and Jeremy Vine rule themselves out of being the latest BBC pervert
I've ruled myself out and about to take BBC to court for not disclosing the truth , what it investigated last year , why shop floor BBC folk are underpaid and we grossly use takepayers money to fund shite behaviour and arrogance.. oh is it true over 100 higher paid folk at this dreadful organisation are being investigated by HMRC..
Was a great fan back in the day other than the odd drama, old series like Fast Show or I Player it's best left alone as its a total woke.
Sell it use dosh to make lives better .

It would be hard to use the dosh made from selling the BBC to have a more positive impact on such a wide range and number of people than it does now.
But all ears to hear what your suggestion is.

How does the BBC fund the behaviour of its employees? Are you of the opinion that the haulage company that Peter Sutcliffe worked for subsidised his reign of terror?

I think since the Saville , Dando , Harris and other incidents (including it’s lack of impartiality) , it probably has the opposite effect, otherwise the talk of scrapping the licence fee wouldn’t even be on the agenda.
The BBC is also losing around ~60,000 licence fee payers per month through cancellations.

And yet a record 21.6m viewers tuned into their coverage of Glastonbury recently.

Impartial ?
For every person who thinks it's anti tory there is someone who thinks it's pro tory
It seems very middle of the road

I’m sure for a one off event like that which these days appeals to a much wider audience it’s to be expected but it’s a service that’s in decline both in terms of funding and quality.

*annual
For reference I’ve been there a few times before it became mainstream and a few from Cardiff did security there as well. I found it was attended mainly people from Wales and the West Country not so sure it’s like that now though and it wouldn’t interest me.

They only contacted the BBC in May after they reported it to the police who decided there was no criminality! The parents then changed their story when they went to The Sun introducing the bit about the “victim” being 17.

Yes. it was the 19th May, I mixed up the months. According to the BBC the police are still looking into it, and even if Presenter X doesn't face any charges it's still a tricky situation job wise, as it seems possible that Presenter X spends a lot of their free time pestering young people and asking for intimate photos and meetups. Grannies all over the country won't be happy about that, so it's going to be a PR nightmare.

This would have been brushed off too, but due to an unfortunate sequence of events it hasn't happened that way and everybody is scrambling for a solution. I don't know how it ends, but if more allegations surface the BBC will face a public outcry.

Seems I was wrong when I said the parents went to the Sun before the police, so apologies about that.

The police looked at original complaint, decided nothing illegal had taken place, but are now revisiting it in light of parents changing their story. There is NO complaint from the “child” as I understand. A child that is now 20 years of age!

I may have got some stuff upside down too, and I've learnt a few things from this threat that I never knew before. I think it's the nature of a situation, with allegations and counter-allegations happening so fast.

Presenter X has exposed themself and become more tainted since yesterday if the new allegations are true.

There are now a total of 4 allegations against the same person.
Given that the person hasn't been named, who and how has the connection been made?

I’ve not seen all the allegations, some seem very creepy but to be fair the one allegation was from a 20 something person who said they felt bullied because they had been sent expletive texts after they threatened to expose them online, what did they expect? Surely most in that position would do the same.
Another one about him going for a cup of tea during covid restrictions.
