On the face of it we narrowly lost to a side miles better than us.
Ojo may even have nicked an unlikely draw following a good passage of play.
The sad thing is we now have to try and enjoy giving not Man City or Chelsea a bit of a game but Watford and even worse they ended up doing us on our previous expertise. Set pieces. Bilic was right we were a side there for the taking.
We are just awful throughout the side and its depressing that stringing a few passes together slowly and without purpose is now seen as entertainment.
I was talking to someone down there a couple of games ago and he said I come here to see goals. Thats my entertainment.
Its all well and good trying to pass but our lot are nowhere near good enough trying to pass our way from the back and through sides to create chances.
We are not a couple of players short we are miles off.
We need new players. I thought last night was as good a team we could select. Sadly they are not good enough.
We need a huge clearout again.
Slightly harsh I think, we need to sort out the defending from corners those goals were disapointing, but I think Watford will go on and finish in the top six, they look a half decent team and overall we gave them a good game. We obviously also need Robinson back also.

First priority is to stay up.
We are just nowhere near good enough trying to pass through sides so we need to find a way to counter attack at pace.
Plus we need to add physical presence at the back and up front.
I thought loaning McGuinness was right but I think he needs recalling. I really dont know what Morison was thinking signing Simpson.

Ive said considering the gulf in ability the players did well. But Bilic wasnt happy with his team. Our best play was when they went 2-1 up. We were there for the taking and should have buried us. Credit to our players but also they almost certainly eased off.
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 2 WATFORD. Match thread
Thought in parts we did ok.
Overall they were a level above us and even had that physicality that we no longer possess.
I want us to play a more progressive style and I'm happy we are attempting to, unfortunately we just seem a bit lost with it.
We pass nicely at times through defence and even midfield but it's often slow, telegraphed and with no final third penetration. Bar some lovely footwork from Philogene I don't remember us testing their defence much, let alone the keeper.
I know we scored from a corner last night but our set pieces for and against overall this season have been a joke. Considering he has been on the coaching staff all season Hudson can take his share in that. It's been awful, I was shocked when we scored from it. We then shat ourselves on almost every one of theirs.
Could have nicked a point towards the end but no arguing with the result.
A large part of the league is a muchness, there are no whipping boys, no big points deductions. It's a long season ahead. Do we have the players to scrap our way out if it?

Warnock , Harris and even the first bit of Mick's time here we had the benefit of parachute payments, Morison and Hudson we have not, it is a completely different prospect to get to the playoffs without them.
if you're getting parachute payments then you SHOULD be getting in the playoffs as a minimum, probably challenging for automatic, you are getting £50million more than other teams in the same division - imagine bolstering this squad with £50 million worth of players in a few key positions?
we wasted all thatoney and now we are competing for scraps with the other 3/4 of the division who don't get the premier League money.

Last night we played as well as we could but just got beaten by a better side. Calling for clearouts and mass changes is very premature in my opinion. Last season, many on here were calling for a change of style and now we've got it there are just as many complaints. Let's not overreact.

I'm not saying we are definitely going down but it will be another long season. Steve "I left Cardiff in a better position than when I found them" Morison has absolutely shafted us.
we aren't playing like a relegation side, we've just lost a game by a single goal against a side that cost a relative fortune to ours in terms of wage bill. it's going to happen especially in a very competitive league.
we are now a mid table side, we are going to win some and lose some, hopefully we can build up to being more competitive over a few seasons, but that's realistically where we are now.
It wasn't Morison who shafted us, it was the managers who wasted all the premier League money - that's when we had an unfair advantage over the rest of the division and we did nothing with it. now we are working on the same budget as most other clubs around us
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 2 WATFORD. Match thread
we've got a youngish side which was almost all thrown together in the summer because we had to clear out all the old dead wood the previous managers had left us with.
we SHOULD improve as the season progresses as we get important players back from injury, as young players get more experience at this level and as the team gels together better.
our underlying metrics are pretty average, not that good but also not indicative of a relegation battle.
we will be fine.

I understand all this and I’m not daft enough to think we are Playoff calibre. But where I don’t agree is that Morison and now probably Hudson should be exempt from any f*kn criticism either. Nor the players. I think there are way too many excuses made for some pretty dire pro football.

Not playing like a relegation side.??
We definitely are.
14 goals all season. Our fans at home havent even seen us score more than 1 in a home game. If we were creating chances it would be something but we dont.
I agree about the wasted PL money but Morison has left us with this squad.
