Because it doesn’t matter that speed limits have been reduced in many countries, everything & anything is Mark Drakeford’s fault every time, however far you go back.

That was the problem, Covid and his daft measures gave him a little bit of power and attention, but now he seems to crave it with pointless and more different ideas that may give him a tiny little bit of attention in England, meanwhile lowering the standards of living and enjoyment for the people of Wales who he is supposed to be serving in our best interests.
Hopefully, he'll retire soon, and none of his team gets a look in and some half-intelligent more balanced mini-Starmer gets a go to try and sort things out.
As for Boris, he was way too cautious, but ten times better than Drakford and Sturgeon, if it was up to them, the UK would be in a far worse position than it currently is, they never wanted to unlock at all, and tried to stop it and the same with Brexit, delays to both have left us all in a right mess.
Time to move this to the alternative thread, 90% of people don't want to plod around at 20mph, but some people will pretend they love it because it was a Welsh Labour idea or because they are pensioners with nowhere to go and can take all day to get there.
Up the Pig Shaggers!!!

The Government seems to have conveniently missed that one.
Cardiff Bus said one of the reasons they are reducing services is because the lower 20 MPH speed limit makes the routes unviable, and also the buses cannot do it all the time without degrading the vehicle.
The new £1 million bus lane on Pen Hill was intended to reduce bus route timings by 40 Seconds at best. That was at 30 MPH. how much will they save now?
Probably hours because they will cancel the routes all together.
So where does that sit with the Government abusing drivers to force more people onto affordable convenient public transport?

Re: Petition against 20mph blanket speed limit
I must admit, I thought the total would be going up much faster than it actually is. I've been checking, about 150 signatures a day is the average, which is not that much. Is it that people don't know about the petition, or that they don't care, or perhaps that they don't think it will make any difference what they vote?

I thought it sounded like a daft policy if it was a blanket drop to 20mph from 30mph but it's only on selected roads.
Hardly make any difference.
Apart from to the old knobheads who like to complain about everything.

No it actually it wasn’t ( more that fact that people complained of change even then) but I’m sure the speed limit alone wasn’t the only factor in those record numbers either , more likely drink driving , cars which were much less safer than today and the fact that in 1967 car ownership had increased almost 50% from the start of the 1960’s in addition to the two point seatbelt being introduced.

So in summary, an array of measures were introduced that people complained about that significantly improved road safety?

Re: Petition against 20mph blanket speed limit
When I went a speed awareness course, the only thing I learned was where theres no speed limit signs, and street lights are present.,the default speed limit is 30mph.
I presume now the default speed limit is 20 mph.
