2. jon1959 is wronbg, the unions didn't want Corbyn to win and I was mistaken when I said the unions 'got their man'

but jon has said that the unions wanted Corbyn as their man. I've put it in bold for oyu since you must have missed it the first time.

if that is the case why did the trade unions set up call centres to help members join the labour party?

If you can find evidence of that then the press would love to know, they'd have a field day with it.

I've already given you a BBC article where they say the unions set up call centres for this specific purpose. Not only that, the unions had all the relevant forms printed and distributed. If you accept the BBC is the press then you must accept I have met your criteria for evidence.

Re: Corbyn's interview (or non interview) with Sky on Sunday
The general public is looking to hear what Corbyn has to say. The proverbial man in the street knows little, if anything, about him or his policies. Superficially Corbyn has some good ideas (such as railway privatisation) but what we would like to know is how is he going to pay for them. Nuclear disarmament and abolishing the army have been mentioned but we would like to know - and I suspect so would his Party how his radical policies can be paid for. Shunning the press is not the best way to win the public over or to attract decent media coverage.
That nonsense with Sky was ridiculous and pulling out of interviews with the BBC's Andrew Marr on Sunday citing he was too busy to attend but then was seen being photographed with some Bollywood babes was not the best idea. Earlier he pulled out of an interview with Andrew Neil. Yesterday he failed to turn up for an interview on Radio 4's Today programme.
On Sunday Tom Watson said on the Marr programme he had been asked to do PMQs as Corbyn's deputy. When Corbyn was accused of leaving women out of the most senior shadow cabinet positions we now find Angela Eagle will do the job along with others with Corbyn doing the odd one. Today we find Corbyn is appearing on Wednesday at PMQs and not Tom Watson or Angela Eagle. At present Corbyn is all over the place.
Corbyn has an horrendous task leading a Party where only a few MPs voted for him in the leadership election. He desperately needs to get his act together and a decent Press Secretary, as already suggested would be a good start. One thing is for sure Corbyn won't be able to duck the Press forever.

Most of the trade unions that took a position decided to endorse Corbyn - although some supported other candidates. Most trade unions - especially the bigger ones - tried to promote the sign up of affiliated supporters from the ranks of their members. In my experience most trade unions were pushing involvement in the process and the importance of an effective opposition and potential future government to represent the interests of ordinary people, whether working and in trade unions or not. Some individuals, and at least the one Trades Council I mentioned (although I expect that was common) actively promoted Corbyn as a candidate, but I saw no evidence of the individual trade union publicity machines being used to push Corbyn over Burnham, Cooper or Kendle. I was called 3 times by the Unison call centre and the caller was scrupulously 'neutral' in respect of the 4 candidates every time.

However, I saw no evidence of a general campaign inside Unison (or some other unions where I have close friends) to persuade members to sign up as affiliated supporters and vote for him. In fact it was such a clunky process to sign up as an affiliated supporter that I (and many other TU members) went directly to the Labour website and signed up as an individual registered supporter - and paid the £3/£10.
Feedy, carefully read the bit in bold.
