Adams :hehe:, El Ghazi was also a disappointment.
Re: Players who make/made no impression.
I knew this would be a massive thread! Far too many to mention but in terms of expectation to reality gap I’d say
Quincy Owusu-Abeyie
Kurt Nogan
Brad Smith
Kelvin Etuhu
Re: Players who make/made no impression.
Ian Feuer.
An American keeper signed as cover in January 2000. He was with us for a month and didn't make any appearances, although I think he was an unused sub a few times.
Re: Players who make/made no impression.
I remember watching a game from the front of the Grandstand at Ninian Park and Fauer was one of the subs warming up on the touchline in front of me - he was huge. I reckon he’s probably the tallest keeper we’ve ever had in a first team squad, so, although he’s a good candidate for this thread, he certainly made an impression on me.

6ft 7 according t'internet.
He played for the US Olympic team in Barcelona and then had a successful career as a goalkeeper coach in the MLS.
I only know of him as a friend of mine has his shirt in his collection.
Re: Players who make/made no impression.
The monster known as Jorn Schwinkendorf.

he clearly made some impression, as he's mentioned on here semi regularly.
Stuart O'Keefe on the other hand I hadn't remembered in years until he was mentioned in this thread.
Re: Players who make/made no impression.
Alan Harper and Kevin McDonald both won First Division winner’s medals while at Everton and Liverpool respectively and I can remember being excited when they signed for us on loan, but they made no impression on me at all as City players.

Absolutely! Tanner has made some BIG impressions during his time with us (Swansea & Bristol City).
Re: Players who make/made no impression.
I don't know if he has been mentioned on this thread but what about Lee Bullock? I remember him signing but not much else
Re: Players who make/made no impression.
Paul Shaw. I remember an Echo billboard saying ‘City Sign Arsenal Star’….the quality of the journalism hasn’t changed…

Mannsverk was slow and mechanical and a bit predictable. He had one pace in every aspect of his game and thinking, when what we probably needed was some intensity and urgency in the middle (easy for me to say in hindsight though) Alves has attributes, he's young, very raw, but he reminded me of a wind up toy where the mechanics only allowed it to do circles. remember those two young lads from Everton under slade? sure there were two of them? wide players, contributed bugger all without really looking like poor players. Maybe there was only one...... :hehe:
Spot on about that Everton pair. About as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
McAleny and Kennedy.
Bloody hopeless.

They did the same with Derek Brazil.
I remember being in town and seeing one of the Echo stands on Wood Street, by Boots the chemists...
"City sign Manchester United star"
:hehe:
