Re: Bluebirds transfer rumours
Any insight in the delay in publishing the retained list?
It makes it look like at least one out of contract player’s fate is undecided.

I saw something online that 21st was the deadline so we will hear beginning of this week?
Very vague I know, can't remember where I read it I've read so much shit the last week or so concerning transfers.

Re: Bluebirds transfer rumours
Us and West Brom are the only clubs in all 4 Divisions who have yet to show their retained list.

Other clubs have published their lists, saying which players are going, which are leaving and which they are still talking too.

Re: Bluebirds transfer rumours
West Ham also havent announced their list.
Think ive read somewhere the EFL publish them the 2nd week in June.

The nation is holding its breath waiting for the CCFC retained list and the Sue Gray report.

Yup, that’s what I think they’re waiting on. Glen Williams has said he has asked, and the club are in “no rush”

It is… but Tan would still rather not pay for it

Re: Bluebirds transfer rumours
The outcome of the Court for Arbitration in Sport is a valid point. I would imagine that the club have factored in a negative outcome into the overall club budget for the forthcoming season and consequently their activities in the transfer market. If it is a positive outcome and let's hope so, then £15m would be written back from the balance sheet. This would vastly improve the Profit and Sustainability position but I imagine would not improve the availability of funds. No doubt Keith could confirm this.

Still, how long do they think they can drag it out, like the CAS decision is gonna magically appear to save the day before we announce it early this week

Re: Bluebirds transfer rumours
Still no decision from the Michael Isaacs case yet either.

The provision is £20m.
You’re right, though. If Cardiff City are found to not owe Nantes, then it just means they can unwind the provision in their accounts, but sadly, it doesn’t necessarily mean that there is £20m sitting in the bank.
It puts things into perspective. This was a young man’s life and it’s become an ugly business.

I’m guessing that the transfer fee would be £15m which, if successful, would be written back. I assume the balance of the provision is for legal costs which we have probably been incurring at a rate of knots.
-
Re: Bluebirds transfer rumours
As far as I know there are multiple ways of posting a provision both with and without actually having the money. Just because there’s a provision doesn’t mean the money is physically available.
Hopefully Keith to the rescue.

It means there is an accrual in the accounts ( liability on the balance sheet) but it doesn’t mean we have the cash to pay it.

4) Sign Bale on the cheap.
5) Spend 15 million on 2-3 quality players.
6) Mid table finish.
He seems to know what he's doing, lets hope your right with as many of them as possible

Talks with Kasey Palmer have broken down
Can’t say I’m too disappointed about that!

The reports say he is on a £1.2m pa salary with a year left on his Bristol City contract - and that he only played 204 minutes in the Championship last season before being bombed out by Nigel Pearson. So expensive (there might also have been a transfer fee involved unless Bristol City just want to get rid), stale and unwanted.
I'm not disappointed either.

Re: Bluebirds transfer rumours
If he wants to see his contract out then a loan option would be the way forward.1.2m a year in wages is not in our ballpark nor I suspect would we be likely to pay half of that for a loan so probably won't happen.

I think he's ok at this level, wouldn't be a terrible signing but not at that kind of wage.
hopefully we've turned him down because we have a much better option lined up....

This week was always going to be slow, according to WOL.

I take the delay probably because there are a few loose ends to tie up with a player or two.

The retained list has to be with the EFL by 21May, I believe, so I dont fully understand the delay

Come on, you can’t expect them to sell season tickets and issue a retained list at the same time can you.
