I know what you mean, he could have done something to waste time, although didn’t they bring in a rule they have to leave the pitch at the nearest point. I think ODowda did the same. Ojo didn’t get the Memo lol

That said he's had enough chances to impress, and has failed to show what he can do.
He had a half-decent loan spell in League 1 at MK Dons up to the end of December last year scoring 6 goals.
Perhaps, as many have said, he's not good enough (for Cardiff City) at this level.
He was put there to hold onto the ball, buying that little bit of time where support would get to him. We can blame Hudson a bit for putting him in that position, because he is utterly shit at this level(Watters) He wasn't strong, didn't look interested, didn't work hard across the line etc. Yeah. it's a shit show of a role to play, but he didn't want to know, i'd **** him off on Monday if i was Hudson, tell him to stay home. playing like that is cheating your team mates.

Yes, I’m coming to that conclusion and his attitude didn’t look great today, but I do think that all of the strikers we’ve had at the club in recent years would have found the role he was given today a tough one - albeit plenty of them would have made a better job of it than he did.

A place we traditionally lose at ? The last 8 games there we've won 4, drawn 1 and lost 3.

That's a big loss and not sure how we'll set up without him- he was superb today.

And i wouldn't have thought that Tradition would have anything to do with it either.

Some credit to Sparky Harris, superb movement for the goal getting the wrong side & cleverly pulling wide, brilliant ball to find him.

He needs to go Bob. He's stealing a living with us and will do well somewhere else but as a pro footballer at Cardiff City he's appalling. I wanted him to do well (as I would I all of our players) and defended him a bit longer than I should have but no more.
I would say this though, I feel the standard of professional football in The Championship is pretty poor right now and is for the hardcore fans. Most of the matches I've seen elsewhere (not the highlights, they're deceptive) on TV I really wouldn't have wanted to pay to see or travel to as I just don't think there are enough exciting players in the division anymore.

The championship is poor in my opinion. Burnley are top and not particularly good. I don't think that watters is right, Zohore wasn't either. He didn't want to know today. He needs to go. I wouldn't be surprised to hear in the next week or so that he is paid up.

can you imagine a peak Zohore in this team, he'd have had a hatful today

Re: FT: SUNDERLAND 0 - 1 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
We were excellent in the first half with our pace and movement. All that was missing was a goal.
Robinson back Tuesday, with another striker we could easily get top 6. This is a very average division. Anyone can beat anyone.

If there wasn't any emotional investment and I'm glad we got the 3 points because I think we deserved to win, I wouldn't be champing at the bit to watch Sunderland play again.
I did see those two Ched Evans goals for Preston last night which were excellent though but the rest of the match was hard work.

I think we are some way off a top 6 side at the moment

I’m not so sure, probably a centre back, midfielder and 2 strikers.

In other seasons, maybe. We are 14th now, 4 points off 10th with one striker and zero creative centre mids…

City on the back foot, struggling to get up the pitch, and then in the 85th minute, 40yd cross field ball to his feet, and he lets it go past him. Then a couple of gentle jogs back and across the pitch. He was subbed as a sub last season, which brought accusation of cruelty from some. Methinks he's wanted away for a while.

Central midfield is a problem. No penetration. I can understand why people like wintle, and he is a decent player, but we need a bit of spark in that area and it aint going to come from him.

Was he? I thought Watters was dragged off before half time and it was Davies that was subbed as a sub?

I don't think he wants away, it's just not happening for him here though.
to keep getting chances he must be doing well in training, but just isn't doing it on match day. although as a few have pointed out he was on for a bit of a hiding to nothing today as we weren't doing any attacking once he came on

I think that's why we went 2 in centre midfield. It allowed us to get one more body forward and we played well with that system, despite missing several chances.
With all the new players we brought in, we're going to be inconsistent and look awful at times. We need patience and time to let things bed in.

The midfield is made for two of Adams, Ralls, Wintle, Rimo to hold and a number 10 with some energy to play infront of them. Sadly Sawyers just doesn’t have it. I’m not even sure Colwill has the energy.

Rinomhota has been disappointing recently, and Sawyers especially so, of all the players we brought in other than Robinson they had the best pedigree at this level .

Surely creativity is more important than energy for a 10?

depends how you are trying to play.
if your forward players can win the ball in dangerous areas then you don't need to be nearly so creative to fashion a shooting opportunity as the defence will not be set.
-
Re: FT: SUNDERLAND 0 - 1 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Settling down after this win ......
And what a win !
Did anyone fancy our chances up there ?
I thought we were going to get leathered

In theory that works, but we've shown this season how difficult a trio of functional midfielders find it to create chances even if the ball is won high up the pitch

I'd completely forgotten about Adams.
Let's hope he can bring a bit of drive and dynamism to the midfield.

That cross-field ball that he let go, which almost came directly to his feet, was frustrating. It showed a complete lack of concentration.

Callum Paterson? That was a uniquely Cardiff City take on the number ten role though. Let’s give Colwill a chance in the role if he ever is available for us again.

The way we play I think they need both. You only have to look at what we look like as a team when Sawyer is playing.
