He’s learned nothing all season. Nothing. Southampton and Ipswich flattered us, him, the squad and the club. Dalman can do one too.

fyi rotherham were at -55 goal difference before this match. Just sayin'
goes to show you what defending so deep can do vs even a poor team that chooses to attack
-
Re: FT: ROTHERHAM UTD 5 - 2 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
9 goals conceded in last 2 games. Southampton could have had 4 or 5 easily. Add deflected goals to set pieces and we couldn't have scored more than a dozen goals from open play since the start of the year.

Re: FT: ROTHERHAM UTD 5 - 2 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
On the bright side at least we haven't got to play Rotherham next season !!
Say's it all really

Totally agree with you. no linear progress at all. One or two good performances followed by a sequence of total mediocrity. Credit where it's due, he's got us to a good league position but that's the only positive.

However, from other posters, it seems he really did do the fist-pump?
Fecking unbelievable, and so out-of-touch!

What made it bizarre was when it panned to the City fans, many were lapping it up. We’d just got mullered by the worst Championship side for a while. Bulut was really going for it as well and the City commentators were heaping praise on him.

These fans are part of the problem.

Nice for Joel to get 5 mins plus injury time.
Why wasn't Lucy Giles in the squad and why not have Lawlor on the bench?

A very good question...nothing to lose....

Re: ROTHERHAM UTD v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
That was bloody awful. Why Diedhiou and Bowler got 90 mins I'll never know, how Romeo survived half time is another mystery. Giving some of the kids about 5 minutes was a joke, considering the senior pros who let us down time and time again gave us another disaster class. Shipping 5 to the worst team in many years is a joke, we're a really bad side. Only two sides have lost more games than we have, and it shows. It's going to be a tougher season next year I feel, I hope I'm wrong though.

From the BBC report:
"It has been a miserable campaign for the Millers whose four wins from 45 Championship games meant they came into the contest hoping to avoid equalling the record low number of wins in a 46 game season, with Blackpool also only winning four times in 2014-15."
I didn't realise that's how bad they've been. But our lot helped them to avoid equalling that record before Bulut began his fist pumps.

Lawlor sat on the bench twice without getting on the pitch, then was dropped for McGuiness who's been out for months and had literally nothing to gain from being involved today.
Same for O'Dowda - no good reason to pick him today over Giles.
Why not give Mafico at a least a few minutes at the end today as well?

I left at full time so I missed that. I cannot believe that happened. Fist pumps after that performance?

Does anyone who was there want to explain the story behind the fist pumps?

No need for an explanation, there is a certain element of our fan base who want to celebrate gross mediocrity. Bulut is too deluded to realise his ineptitude. It will all end in tears.

The players and staff came over to thank the fans for their support, which you would obviously expect after the last game of the season. The fans started doing the ‘wooooooaah’ and a couple of the younger players did a few fist pumps. The fans sang “Erol Bulut we want you to stay” he responded by tapping his chest and thanking the fans, then he did the fist pumps. It felt like a simple ‘thanks for the support’ gesture to me.

Or could it be that they are fed up of chopping and changing manager and not giving them a chance to build something more sustainable?
-
Re: FT: ROTHERHAM UTD 5 - 2 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
I didn’t see the game yesterday (thankfully) as I just not that bothered about playing Rotherham with absolutely nothing on the match.
Whereas the result looks shocking and it sounds like a poor performance despite us having the bulk of the possession, I am just not that bothered.
Of course it shouldn’t happen, and it being the last game of the season with little to play for is no excuse, but really, who cares?
I’d actually not realised that we kicked off at 12:30……….

Well if no-one else is, I’ll make the flippant remark that many of our players didn’t realise either.

Realistically, was there any difference between the importance (or otherwise) of yesterday’s game and other recent games against the likes of Sunderland, Millwall and Middlesbrough? To all intents and purposes there was nothing on any of those games either other than points and league table positions.

Has Bulut shown the capacity to build something more sustainable? In my opinion he hasn't

No and I was almost equally disinterested in those games as well, despite going to the Millwall game :-/
Teams often tail off in situations like this so the near hysteria on this board seems a bit much.

On the contrary, they made quite a habit of kicking off regularly for around an hour from around 12:55.
