Re: 2024 US Presidential Election
Well it's an interesting appointment if nothing else. I think Musk is a decent enough bloke and clearly competent.
Managing the public sector is very different to managing a private enterprise though. Inefficient things in the private sector can normally be lost with minimal cost. You do that in the private sector and it risks having an impact on some kind of vulnerable group or urgent social need.
That said, there are undoubtedly inefficiencies and more importantly structural weaknesses and very likely better ways of doing things. Interesting times.
The military guy...well that seems a bit, ummm, rogue. But I guess people wanted change?!

well done! you have proven once again that you do not know what you are talking about. Trump is appointing ass lickers that have bent the knee and will do anything he says. "Decent bloke" Musk has already been pushed to the side.

Do you think all that was running through Trump's mind when he was deciding who to run the new agency called DOGE?

Perhaps explain without demonstrating how obnoxious you are?

I think you're probably right. He wanted a decent bloke who was competent, and of course Musk would be the first person if you want that.
Every day he demonstrates his decent character, and if buying Twitter for $44bn and giving it the worst rebranding of all time isn't competent efficiency, then who knows what is!

Musk has been appointed because he showed loyalty to Trump in the campaign and donated heartily. No one doubts that.
It doesn't stop it being an interesting appointment, or mean there arent different ways of working does it?
He doesn't just own X btw.
And yeah I think he does seem a decent enough guy. What of it? 💁

As usual, you don't actually state anything of value or a clear opinion. Is that because when you do, you are normally proved wrong within a fairly short period of time?
I was hoping you may be able to respond sensibly instead of like a toddler too. Alas!

Not really, no, although it's also not the most important trait in a politician. But I think Elon Musk seems a decent enough bloke and comes across fairly well in interviews. I've never met him so certainly not going to slag off the personality of someone I haven't met or had any engagement with.

I think it was wonderfully decent of him to offer bribes to skew the election voting. Whoever said the ultra rich love democracy?

Gaetz is surely the face of Trumpism Mk 2? A lovely piece of work!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Gaetz
Gaetz was one of two members (of the Florida House of Representatives) to vote against a Florida bill criminalizing revenge porn, in 2015, after having successfully blocked the bill previously.
In 2020, Gaetz was accused of sex trafficking and having sexual relationships with minors. After an investigation, the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) decided not to charge him, though Gaetz remains[needs update] under investigation of the House Ethics Committee.
In June 2021, Gaetz was one of 21 House Republicans to vote against a resolution to give the Congressional Gold Medal to police officers who defended the U.S. Capitol on January 6.
In March 2023, The Intercept reported that Gaetz had hired Derrick Miller as his military legislative aide. Miller spent eight years in prison after he was convicted of murdering a civilian during his army service in Afghanistan.
On the plus side he's married to someone called Ginger Luckey Gaetz.

Why do you need to call me a **** for saying this? A week ago, you made this post:

Twitter had a strong brand. You could adapt the name as a verb and people knew instantly what you meant, just like hoovering.
It's been X for over a year, and it still needs to have "formerly known as Twitter" whenever it's referred to. There's no easy word for using it anymore. What do you say instead of tweeting? Posting on X?
You can give this a read, it doesn't take long to find a whole load of articles of how it was a rebranding disaster:

You prove me wrong? Fair play, you're deluded as well as an idiot.
In practically every thread you enter, including this one, you proffer some contrarian (usually vaguely rightwing) opinion and in short order a plethora of people hand your ass back to you on a plate. But you're too hubristic to even realize it so you plough on and on ad nauseam trying to retrieve a lost argument. You post in repeatedly in practically every thread. Why? Do you think you're omniscient?
Anyone who defends Trump is by definition an idiot. Is that clear enough for you? Now jog on, idiot.

A Republican senator claimed he was showing pictures of all the women he claimed to have had sex with on the House floor while telling other members he took crushed ED meds with Red Bull chasers so he could "go all night".
Honestly, AG? You couldn't make this up. And yet there are some on here who will no doubt claim it's an "interesting" appointment or he's "decent".

If you think someone who called Vernon Unsworth a "pedo guy" is decent. What does that say about your judgement?

Re: 2024 US Presidential Election
Is Tulsi the most attractive US female politician ever yes or yes ? Credit to Joe Biden BTW for his welcoming of the NAZI to the WH yesterday, the smile across his and his wife's face confirmed that he and his wife had voted for OMB as a big F U to the Cabal who Orchestrated his downfall, his immediate endorsement of Mrs Harris caught them off guard and forced their hand.
You are watching a movie

You calling anyone hubristic is another fine example of the idea that people's understanding of irony decreases the more time one spends in the United States. The lack of self awareness is almost a commendable trait in fairness.
Your big issue - and you aren't alone in this, the internet is full of such people - is your total intolerance for any opinion that differs from you own. You simply cannot handle it and you lash out and offer insults only. I suspect you are too long. The tooth to improve in that respect
Let's look at what I said here for example..
1 / Musk seems a decent enough guy. Thats a matter of opinion but I think he does come across mostly well. Certainly comes across as a far nicer guy than you. Either way, it's an opinion.
2 / it's an interesting appointment. It sure is that. That's why people are talking about it.
3/ He may find finding efficiencies in the public sector far harder to achieve due to the nature of the impact on the vulnerable / society generally.
4 / Nonetheless there are undoubtedly some savings to be made / new ways of working.
5 / The appointment of Pete Hegseth in defence sees rogue.
⬆️ These are all perfectly reasonable statements. Certainly not idiotic. If you got some physiotherapy on that jerky knee of yours you may even find you agree with half of it.
I had been hoping Arizona was a closer vote so that you would have been personally more responsible, as surely you could only have sent a few hundred votes to the Republican side using your unique people skills!
"If you don't vote the same as me you are an idiot" Good one! The rallying cry of electoral losers since the Greek republics!

Funny how Trump sees the guy who's under investigation by his own party for underage sex and thinks - that's my guy.
Whatll probably happen is that he won't get, but whoever does is a dreadful choice but slightly less dreadful by comparison.

Fauci must be wondering

It was Mike Pompeo who advised against releasing the Kennedy assassination files previously, maybe we will get to see them during this term, Mr. Kennedy i'm sure would be interested. Re: 2024 US Presidential Election
RFK is an absolute nutter health wise. I'd imagine he won't be allowed too close to the pharma companies though, they're too important financially and for health. Interested in the comments made about him looking at food additives, pesticides etc. we've seen recently here just how hard it is to introduce much needed reforms to farming. They kick, scream and threaten violence and have a weird coalition that seems desperate to support them in their selfish fight.
Maybe a nutter like RFK is exactly what needs to be unleashed against the food producers. Anything they shout at him will be like water off a ducks back. Here's hoping to an end of chlorinated chicken and a drop in the ridiculous amounts of pesticides and other chemicals dumped onto farmland
