things can change around very quickly though

Re: FT: BLACKBURN ROVERS 1 - 2 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Such a vital win but how nervy was that injury time, must admit I can’t remember the last time a ref changed his mind after giving a penalty. Could be the defining point in our season

I think the defining moments this season have been every single, avoidable, basic defensive lapse.

Re: FT: BLACKBURN ROVERS 1 - 2 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
It’s going to such an unpredictable end to the season but I can’t stop thinking that Oxford go to Swansea on the last day, and if it was between us and Oxford to stay up….

Re: FT: BLACKBURN ROVERS 1 - 2 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
seems like ages since we won at ewood park
-
Re: FT: BLACKBURN ROVERS 1 - 2 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Great result however we did it.
Also a bit of justice with the penalty as last year up there the lino overturned a perfectly good goal for us after the ref had given it.

Same here, after Luton and seeing that lineup figured I’d give it a miss, get some things done instead. Happy to not watch if it keeps us up.

They are putting a good run together just when they need it. They will pull away.

It'll be something remarkable if it continues to the end of the season.

Think when you see Blackburn before and after Eustace is a really good manager at this level, think they will be comfortably safe.

Yes looking at the fixtures they have would be a surprise if we picked up more points than them over final 8 games. Wonder if we are top 3 favourites for relegation now?

Sorry to bang on about it, but keep Goutas and Daland out of the side and we have a slim chance of staying up..

The current table would suggest we are. Will certainly need 50 points. If we step up the home form it could be done, a big IF though.

Interesting the odds on Hull are so long, especially given they're behind Oxford and Pompey

It might be to do with the final fixture run in

They’ve only lost one of their last seven games (3 wins, 3 draws, 1 defeat). They also don’t have to play any of the top three, so probably a combination of those two things.

Perhaps but they're playing teams around them, so if they lose, it's a double whammy.
Just thought, who has got to play Plymouth? Leeds, Boro, Sheff Utd and Cov. No sides in the bottom 8 either, they're gone

Yes, Plymouth are gone.
I think if we don't change the manager, we will be too. I do not have confidence that Riza has the know how to see us through the next 8 games.

if we'd appointed a new manager after Luton and this game was their first performance people would probably be saying it was the right thing to do

Not happy before or during the game and then toxic afterwards

It's as simple as we absolutely HAVE to beat Oxford and Stoke and not lose to Wednesday, WBA, and either Preston or QPR! Am I confident? No, not a chance!

Yes Dave you did say to us in the pub that Ismael was useless & don't be surprised if we got something out of the game. It was that little bit of hope I've been clinging onto all week but be fair, what were the odds on it being Meite to score the winner? This game is bonkers sometimes. 😆😅

I think it'll be less than that.
I know it feels like the other teams around us are going to keep winning at the moment, but they won't

It won't be much less. Derby are on track for 46 points, they're on a point a game. I think we need 3 wins and the odd draw

True, Riza deserves credit for getting the substitutions right and for going for the win.

He should have learned from the mistakes made away at Bristol, instead he has played for a point on too many occasions.
This is one of the main reasons why we are where we are in the league
Every match between now and the end of the season has to be approached in the same way
We need wins to keep us up!!!
I was surprised by the Salech substitution, maybe it was down to him fasting so energy levels had dropped?

I felt beforehand that Blackburn was pretty much the ideal away game for City at this time. That doesn't mean to say I was confident of a result - far from it after Tuesday's pathetic performance - but Blackburn are in disarray right now.
Apparently, they had a poor January transfer window and Eustace subsequently left them on 13/02. They managed to beat Plymouth 2-0 a couple of days later, but their results since then have been awful. A 3-0 defeat at Swansea, a 1-1 draw with an erratic and out-of-form Norwich, and defeats to Derby, Stoke and now Cardiff.
It felt to me like they were probably over-achieving under Eustace. Replacing him with route one merchant Ismael (on a three-and-a-half year contract, no less) was a mad move and would have been disheartening for the players. Their fans weren't happy when he was appointed and they're even less happy now. It was a good time to play them.
I was surprised that so many people appeared to believe relegation was a certainty after the Luton defeat. It was a bad one for sure, and City definitely have a poor squad and an even poorer management set-up. However, as I've been saying since the season kicked off, the Championship is truly awful this time around and we're not even in the relegation zone. It'll probably be close and go right to the wire, but I expect City to just about scrape survival again - not necessarily because I'm expecting our lot to do anything great, but because the division is so weak.

Do you think city may need to do more than we maybe thought 10 days ago?
Derby 3 wins in a week. Luton 7 points from 4.
Plymouth fighting hard also.
Yes I get you could say despite the other teams picking up we still aren't in the bottom 3 but looking at derby fixtures I'd expect them to get 50 points plus from here.
