Volvo says emissions from making EVs can be 70% higher than petrol models - and claims it can take up to 9 YEARS of driving before they become greener

Call for electric cars to be excluded from UK car parks

Do you think so when the battery life is not expected to exceed 9 years on a vehicle?

I see Diesel is only £1.43 a litre by me and just 2p more than unleaded @£1.41
That’s the garage on Clarence Bridge
They’re cheaper than Morrisons
My neighbour just bought a 23 plate Tesla for £53.000 then had a moan about the cost of installing a charging point in his house and the cost of charging it overnight
I’m keeping my diesel Tone 😳👍

Re: These Electric car things are great, in they. NOT !!!!
My 3 year PCP deal is up soon and i was out last weekend looking at cars, having gone back to Petrol from diesel 6 years ago, my next and final car will be a diesel and automatic shift change.

53 quid isn't bad for an EV to be fair.

Re: These Electric car things are great, in they. NOT !!!!
I posted previously on this thread re. my daughter-in-law's EV. She now tells me that travelling [from Caerphilly] to Wigan last week to visit friends, she had to stop for 55 minutes in the services to charge up before return. I filled up at Tesco's earlier and timed the whole process. 4 minutes from driving on to driving off the forecourt. As an aside, she now thinks EV's are utter rubbish.

Re: These Electric car things are great, in they. NOT !!!!
Until they develop battery tech ( where the battery gets charged within the vehicle) I can’t see how anyone who lives in the valleys in streets with rows of terrace houses would be able charge a car.
Hybrid tech is probably the best way forward.
It was wasn’t that long ago when Gordon Brown and the Labour government was giving tax incentives on “The dash for diesel” That didn’t last long.

Most people don’t travel from Caerphilly to Wigan daily though

Re: These Electric car things are great, in they. NOT !!!!
Earlier in this thread I said how my sister who really wants me to purchase an EV loaned me hers for the weekend.
She lives in Swansea
I traveled to hers and left my diesel with her.
I then drove to Cobham that was to do with work.
I then thought I’d take advantage of her generosity and drove to see a good mate in Middlesbrough.
On the Sunday I drove back to my sisters
If I told you that I spent at least five hours of that combined journey charging or waiting to charge the effin car I wouldn’t be exaggerating
The government’s around the world want to create 15/20 minute cities
The EV is part of their sinister plot

Is it the end of the road for us with our troublesome all-electric cars? Owners despair over battery problems and the lack of chargers

Toyota "believes it could make a solid-state battery with a range of 745 miles that charges in 10 minutes"

I guess it may be possible to retrofit a solid state battery into an older EV.
the drivetrain and other parts on them will be good for years

Which resulted in us buying our first ever diesel car so now I have to pay £12.50 every time I drive into Kingston/Surbiton etc
Absolutely scandalous.

All we need to do us to rebuild all the multi stories and bridges that can't withstand the extra weight and we're sorted 👍
