Re: About time we had a rugby World Cup thread?
Wales definitely got the better decisions from the ref. There were a few occasions I was sure a card was and probably should have come out for the cynical infringements on the line.
Take it though.

There is no way England will “canter” passed us if we both meet in Qtr Finals. It will be a 50/50 game.

Watched a news report, talking to some Rugby fans, they seem to have abandoned the cowboy hats for Footballs “BUCKET HATS” :frown:

I saw a report - think it was in WalesOnline but I may be wrong - which asserted that the wearing of bucket hats had started at Wales rugby internationals and spread to football.

Football stole men of Harlech, eggers stole the bucket hats. That’s 1-1. Who’s gonna get the winner?

Well if men of Harlech is argued to be a rugby song .....I think that's nonsense mind .....then as rugby is a predominantly white , colonial game then its no surprise !

The only - the only - singing you will hear at a Wales rugby international over the last few decades is "Way-uls, Way-uls" and occasionally "Hymns and Arias" . Obviously the national anthem before the match starts, but never during. If you've heard "Men of Harlech" it must have been a very, very long time ago. Wales football is far better for singing and an all round better atmosphere.

I immediately thought a straight red but accept that refs refer to this new system almost by default.
Nothing in the replays suggested, to me, that this was anything but a red.
The explanations then given to justify a yellow seemed somewhat suspect to the point of being a "home town" decision.
In the meantime Tom Curry gets a two match ban following his bunker upgrade to red for what , at best, was a yellow.
The inconsistent decision making is ultimately frustrating as surely with 8 minutes and multiple cameras angles there can be some kind of level playing field.
Maybe rugby has become far too complicated not only for the armchair supporters but also the officials with the never ending tweaking of the rules.

Re: About time we had a rugby World Cup thread?
Sport always felt like something that couldn't be corrupted. It does feel like too often video technology favours the biggest and richest teams.
For example the audio released from the United-Wolves incident. The VAR man says its late and clumsy, but moments later decides no foul, who's leaned on him?

Just realised no Wales referees were selected but 4 Englishmen.
