I think lots of people would have a number of issues with SWP being able to get your current location via your phone with no notice, although presumably there are other government agencies who can.
I do sympathize with the police here while also recognizing it must be absolutely heartbreaking for the families. People especially of a certain age do tend go off the radar for long periods of time, the police don't have the resources to investigate each one without mitigating circumstances. With hindsight you can say maybe this one with 5 active social media users in each others company all going offline at the same time should have been considered a bigger issue, but equally we have no idea what info was available to them at the time, what procedure was followed, how coordinated the family reachouts were etc... I think until there's an official report there's a lot of jumping to conclusions being made right now.
You’d like to think that if several families all reported missing persons then all available tracking options would be available immediately.
I’m sure all will be explained in the enquiry….what a tragic set of circumstances. RIP.

Re: 3 young people found dead in car in Cardiff
Is it true there was a sixth person in the car who walked away without alerting the authorities?
-
Re: 3 young people found dead in car in Cardiff
My daughter mentioned this as well Vindec
Chatter on social media
I wouldn’t have thought so mate
A sixth person wouldn’t have had a belt on
Perish the thought

I know the board doesn't like hearsay, but what I was told was that another person was with them but went home because they didn't like the way things seemed to be going.
This was mentioned Monday morning.

Thanks. It was mentioned on the news yesterday and appeared again in this morning's press but the article I read has been removed. Hence my question.. But I was wondering whether it was a blown up rumour emanating from social media.
I don't think the sixth seatbelt point is that accurate though as a VW Tiguan only has 5 seats.

Re: 3 young people found dead in car in Cardiff
If you were the sixth person? And you walked away from the crash without alerting at least an ambulance you’d never be able to live with yourself
Two days in the crashed car
I honestly can’t see it

The sixth person was dropped off before the crash, they didn't walk away from it.

I've heard of another person, but that he went home earlier in the evening.
Maybe this other story is a case of Chinese whispers.

Thanks. That seems to be a plausible explanation.

Re: 3 young people found dead in car in Cardiff
Have they said who was driving the car yet? Is it the guy who survived?

Apparently it's being reported by friends and families that the car was driven back towards Newport by the owner, Rafel Jeanne Actie.

The 2 in the front of the vehicle were deceased on impact.

The 6th person is mentioned in this BBC story so presumably they have a reliable source for it.

Just meant it confirmed there was a 6th person in the car, not who they were.
"A sixth person, who had been with the five who were in the crash, had been dropped at home earlier."

Yeah, that was said a long time ago though.
A purported name has emerged, along with information that could put a slant on what happened, not going to link for obvious reasons.

Yeah I thought you also said it might be Chinese whispers? Thought you were looking for confirmation from a reliable news source.
Anyway I must've got wrong end of the stick, feel free to ignore me and I'll go back to lurking for another 10 years 😁

Re: 3 young people found dead in car in Cardiff
Gotta admit some bloody good potential crime reporter's lurking about on CCMB

Re: 3 young people found dead in car in Cardiff
The issue for a lot of people was not that they had been using substances
It was that it was out of order to speculate on social media as these people were dead and families were grieving
And the wider issue appeared to be why did the police take so long to find the car ?
