Re: PLYMOUTH ARGYLE v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Couldn't watch after sending off. A Redcard happy ref. VAR may have overturned it.
We were far better side in first half and did very well to hang on for a point.
A point was the minimum needed from this game, real shame Hull won away.
Looks like we've got big defensive problems for Tuesday.

Re: PLYMOUTH ARGYLE v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Since Xmas Hull have won 4 and lost 1 away(to Burnley).
Could have done with that win today.

Worst case we will be without Alnwick, Goutas, Bagan, Chambers and Daland - with Turnbull, Robertson and Robinson maybe also still unavailable through injury and Collins in purgatory.
We will probably have a back three of Ng, Fish and Roko Simic! In front of Horvath!
Hull won't know what's hit them!

We’ve had big defensive problems all season.
Really should have put Plymouth away before the red card. They were not only terrible but also clearly knackered after spending 90 minutes in a grim physical battle with Luton on Wednesday. However, City once again failed to make their superiority count before Goutas made a mess of things.
It’s a point from an alleged six-pointer. Not good, but the division is so poor it will no doubt prove beneficial in the long run.
This team, though. People wax lyrical about some of these players on a regular basis. Truth is they haven’t been higher than 17th in the table all season. Today was an another indication of why that is. Neither the players nor the management and coaching set-up are very good.

Re: PLYMOUTH 1 - 1 CARDIFF. Match thread
I've seen bad sides before, but somehow it feels as though this one is close to being half decent if only they could stop shooting themselves in the bollocks

Re: PLYMOUTH 1 - 1 CARDIFF. Match thread
We never seem to get any luck, own goals, pens..nothing….i can’t see where the points we need are coming from to get to 50. This had to be one of them. League 1 eh? Wow

As you’ve mentioned the poor quality of this division a lot, when would you say the quality was good previously?
I think the fact that it throws up so many strange results makes it more interesting than the premier league.

Based on what? And that isn't meant in a flippant way. You make a general point, how would you evidence it? What makes us half decent, seeing as we have been in a relegation fight all season, What do you think needs to click for us to be half decent?

And yet some people on here are happy with a draw.
Against one of the worst teams in the division. :-/

10 men for most of the second half, plus a load of injury time, a keeper on one leg - yes we should have put 5 on them!
-
Re: PLYMOUTH 1 - 1 CARDIFF. Match thread
Hard to pin down how to feel about that result. Based on the second half, down to 10 and losing players to injury, I’d have taken a draw.
Based on the first half I’m disappointed it wasn’t 2 or 3 nil at half time.
Portsmouth, Plymouth and Hull in quick succession is the big moment of our season. We threw it away against Pompey and were unlucky today. What will Tuesday bring?

Totally agree. We’ve had much worse sides but we’re not helping ourselves by poor decision making and lack of belief.

Fair play, that was one shit football match.

We were on course for a win, the next goal was only going to come from us.
Then Goutas getting sent of changed things. Bagan having to go off further hampered us.
Those circumstances meant we couldn't be gung-ho. Nevertheless, I still thought we had it in us to get the winner, Plymouth really were THAT poor.
I can't understand why Meite was brought on. What did Riza think he was going to do - hold the ball up?

I disagree. We played some nice stuff until the sending off.

Re: PLYMOUTH 1 - 1 CARDIFF. Match thread
Am I missing something here . I enjoyed that game .We played really well for the first 25 minutes and could have scored 2 or 3 goals . They had one shot ! After the sending off it was backs against the wall . Not pretty but exciting to try and hold on . That is called
entertainment in my eyes . If people want Real . Liverpool , Barca football they are not going to get it with City .
Lets be honest The best football played in the 2 nd tier has only been a couple of years with Scoular and a couple with Jones .
If people are constantly disappointed City is not for them .

Sean Morrison is a free agent, maybe he can help out until then? 👊🏻

This season he has now given 8 reds; two against us. He was the ref at our home game against Swansea. That said, I thought he was somewhat lenient with a few of Plymouth's challenges today, too.

1 point from our 1st 7 games was always going to give us a problem. We might have 'better' players than a few clubs around the bottom of the table but as I've continually argued, we cannot stop making simple defensive mistakes, and Goutas and Daland are at least consistent in this department. We're bottling it, and as much as it pains me to say so, our manager appears to be. well, slightly panicking. Together they aren't cut out for a relegation battle, and we seem to be getting more fragile and vulnerable as the end of the season approaches. Oh dear.

If we go down the responsibility lies with our useless board.
How we are going into a relegation battle with this coaching set up is total neglect.

We have won 3 games out of the last 20, if as some believe that the squad is mid table at best, then it can only be down to the coaching staff?
Positives today were that we hung on for a point
Salech looks like he knows how to score
Ramsey lasted a whole game
Just frustrating that we weren’t 2-3 up by half time
Colwill Alves and Meite all had decent chances just a lack of composure
Another tough game on Tuesday, it’s going to be interesting how we line up against Hull?
