Re: FT: AFC WIMBLEDON 0 - 1 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Good all round performance lacking a cutting edge, otherwise would have been 3-0. Despite an awful ref we deserved the win.
Seem to have picked up a couple of injuries. Reinforcements needed sooner rather than later.

The passing and the build-up play was good, just missing the end product.

Agree. Wintle has perhaps been the standout player so far this season. Lawlor and Fish were both excellent tonight, as was Kapakio IMO. Our attacking players need to find something more in these type of games. The emotions this evening went from from 50 minuutes of quiet satisfaction, to 25 minutes of growing frustration, 10 minutes of nervous tension and then to 5 minutes of jubilation which made it all worthwhile- a good evening's entertainment.

I think Wintle is the only man in the squad to have played every minute of every game. His fitness levels are unbelievable.

Yes, because we're paper thin there?

My dad's catchphrase watching the games with him is "It's just the final ball!"

Are you saying we are or asking if we are?

According to the BBC report talking about the obvious penalty "stony faced referee David Rock was unmoved" - somebody has been waiting for a while to use that one.
To be fair, not sure an actual rock could have been much worse, he was fecking shite.

Fortunate. But we deserved it. Fair play to Wimbledon for working their socks off, but our boys worked hard too. I thought they were out of gas for the last ten minutes. In hindsight maybe Robinson should have started and Salech could have replaced him. I'm amazed at the drop in standard from the Championship to League One. With a few additions to the squad I see no reason why we can't be champions of this division.

Oops. Every time I tried to post it went to a screen that said the site wasn't available.

I think we’re paper thin everywhere apart from goalkeeper and central midfield - we’re not going to be able to keep on playing with this intensity all season without three or four coming in because I’m sure there’ll be more departures before the window closes.

Re: FT: AFC WIMBLEDON 0 - 1 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
What i saw.
A much better passing side that didn't just clog it forward in desperation.
Salech a lumbering giant doesn't fit that type of game.
Tanner is better on the right wing.
Trott looks decent.
We still need a proper striker. maybe we could loan one from Wrexham as they have about 15 :)

Can’t agree about Salech, his hold up play, back to goal and linking people in is great. As soon as Robinson came on we lost all of that and he then missed the easiest chance we had.
We need another lumbering giant, as BBMs tactics are to use the width and get crosses in.

From reading other clubs blogs etc, L1 teams are more paper thin than us. You only have to look at the bench of the teams we are up against.

Wrexham's Ollie Palmer could do a job for us I reckon, as a super-sub. According to my Wrexham supporting mate, he's not too happy about not even being in their squad for league matches.

Trott a signing, see what I did there!
Great save, when he was needed, he was there and won us the game !!!
Well done the defence too, a lot of pressure, they dug in and also got us the win.
What a difference a Manager makes.

a 33 year old lower leagues journeyman is not the way forward.
massive downgrade on any of our current strikers

I thought Joel Colwill was excellent. How we could have done with his energy last season. He we will be a very important cog in our team for away games, when we will really need his energy. He will be a right handful when he comes up to his full adult fighting weight.
His big brother is a different class, it is a sad indictment on last seasons managers who failed to get a tune out of him.
Kpakio and Lawlor both have the potential to be something special.

Do you think the player himself should perhaps shoulder some of the blame for his weak, ineffective performances throughout much of last season? Is the drop in standard be suiting him?
I'd say yes, definitely to both.
