So the queen decides that no-one gets to wear military uniforms. Canny move indeed.

Nope. If he wasn’t a Royal the public would view him very differently imo. Rude, arrogant and dismissive of other cultures.

No, he wasn't any of those things, it is just your opinion of him. He was probably better regarded and considered in other countries than he was here. But it's your opinion and you're entitled to it.

I’m sure you’ve never told an Irish or Scottish joke.
Get a grip you fool. There is a distinct difference between a quip and deep seated racial hatred.
Do you think every football supporter who calls us sheep shaggers are racist?
You have a black belt in getting offended on behalf of others.

Re: Duke of Edinburgh dies
Supporting, following, and in many cases worshiping these people who hold absolute power over us, regard themselves as our betters, expect us to bow, curtsey, address them in specific ways, are oxymorons (in a so-called democratic country) and are obscenely wealthy by inheritance gained from power and force, etc., etc., etc is nothing short of a type of Stockholm Syndrome.

What would you call supporting, following, and in many cases, worshipping over paid footballers, who play for your local team ?

Don't sidle up to me, old fruit. I haven't got any time for the medieval concept of royalty myself.

Neither have i. We are allowed opinions on it though.By the way, don’t need to “sidle” up to anyone on here fella. We’re not in a playground now.

Let what go Sludge (I think your first sentence is wrong by the way, and that is said by someone who has never been a great fan of Prince Philip)

That's such a stupid comparison, football fans are the first to be critical of their own players. This thread is pretty strong evidence that those who support the institution of the royal family, don't appear to be able to be critical of it or them as individuals.

That is like when the racist says 'some of my best friends are black'. You rarely miss an opportunity to defend the anything or anyone associated with the British establishment.

Well he didn't seem to have a lot of common sense as his comments on people were not very clever for a person supposedly representing his country
So I would wager on that front , I am brighter than him . He had a lot of medals but those he won and those he was given is a moot point
But the issue here is he made some very offensive remarks about people and because he was in the royal family it was oh he's only joking , he's very forthright in his views you know , he tells it as he sees it 😉
Here is another example of someone having a bit of fun ......
BBC News - Cambridgeshire Police officer sacked over racial slur
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...shire-56776303
Except he got sacked
