Talent is not enough in this league. You need fight as well. Our team as it stands is bang in trouble as this lot lack any sort of fight.

Sadly this is bang on the money, most of the current bunch lack any bottle, I can’t remember a time in all my years of following the City where we have seen such a collection of players who were so gutless!
There’s zero fight in a lot of them, no passion and mainly they don’t give a toss
Some of these clowns will be looking to their agents to get them out and onto another gravy train somewhere else
First thing they should be doing is looking at the table to see where we finished, they won’t as they couldn’t care less
In league one, most of them would get kicked off the park, we need a manager who can identify the 4-5 battlers we’re desperately going to need to hold our own in this league

Vitor Campelos whoever he is has now entered the betting at 7/2.

Don`t know if someone at the club has leaked some stuff out (again) but a couple of things to consider
1. In the published minutes of the May 2025 FAB meeting with the club, Chair Mehmet Dalman states that he would like a couple of continental managers to be on the shortlist to be our new manager.
2.According to Wikipedia, Campelos says he was 99% certain he was going to join us as manager when he was managing Chaves in Portugal but Vincent Tan chose someone else - strong hint of another example of ignoring professional football expertise?
-
Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
Campelos sounds like Bulut 2.0. Going to be another guy they dupe into taking the poisoned chalice for their leadership because the British managers know to avoid Tan/demand more money for a harder job.
Tan and the Cardiff brass undoubtedly have a reputation locally. But on a European scale, not as much.

Sorry, would have to disagree. There's **** all talent in League 1 to begin with, and the 2 most 'talented' teams went up automatically this season, even if they spent a bucket load between them.

Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
Other forum on "a very good source" is claiming Buckingham has been selected. Could be bogus of course, as they can often get things wrong.
He'd have probably been my second choice behind Selles, seems like probably the best choice we could agree upon and the best out of that final batch of names (him, Evatt, Murphy, Ramsey). I'll back this appointment, Oxford were pretty upset to see him go.

Rowett also turned around Oxford pretty quickly when Buckingham was relieved of duties.
We are probably going cheap. He may get it. If he does lets hope he is a good coach who Oxford were foolish to let go.
Otherwise Tuertos mate may get his wish and it will Ramasut to get his chance in November.🤣
Murphy did not score or assist under Manning, it was all Buckingham (and Murphy himself of course). Manning left after 15 games that season, Buckingham hardly tanked.

That was Bulut, though?

Our 24/25 side, for all of their alleged talent (I accept they had some, but believe our supporters over rated us in that department - or, at least, we barely ever saw it winning us games) would have had to have produced qualities we seldom saw during the regular season to have made any progress in this season’s League One Play Offs, for all that there wasn’t a great deal of good football on show in them.

If it is Des Buckingham as has been stated, I think his priorities will be
Bring in his own back room staff
Do you keep anyone out of contract?
How can he move out those players, who clearly aren’t up for the task
Identify and sign some experienced league one battlers who know their way around this division and some wingers who can actually beat a defender and deliver a cross
It’s a big task and good luck to him (if it’s him)

Buckingham has gone odds on overnight.
The ITK wannabes claiming their reliable sources saying hes actually our manager is the funniest part of this.
Does every club have these posters.?🤣

No.
It does look like the paid experts have come up with him and Evatt.
More money pissed away.
The desperate trying to be in the know about the appointment or signings is always a laugh.

Sabri, Erol, Omer, then Des, gone are the days or Dave and Steve as Managers.

These type of things usually leak near the very end, so it probably is him, he's also favoutirte for the Plymouth Managers job, if it's not him that will be the get out clause.

I'm just reporting what I see, I'm not the one "in the know".

Buckingham plays good football and got Oxford promoted with Mark Harris up front. He took over with 30 games to go for Christ's sake. It wasn't handed to him on a plate, there's negativity and then there's this

Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
From memory wasn't bulut's appointment kept under wraps or did his name pop up at the end?
I just remember everything indicating it was someone else and then googling bulut for the first time on announcement

Yes, he came out of nowhere. I think we were linked to Oscar Garcia heavily

I think Paul Abbandonato Tweeted we were choosing Bulut an hour or two before the official announcement - before that, I’d never heard of him.

Buckingham was left without any significant backroom staff for the first few months at Oxford. No Assistant Manager or Senior Analyst, Manning took everyone to Bristol City with him. I suspect that also had an impact on initial form.

Please don’t say it’s going to be Buckingham because he knows how to work with a “skeleton staff”.

Manning is said to be going to Norwich. Not in our division I know but would you be impressed if you were a Norwich fan? Although his Bristol City side finished above them last season.

Well, if they offered the job yesterday, based on the timescale of Bulut's appointment we could be waiting another 2 weeks. As others have pointed out, a few vacancies/opportunities out there for aspiring managers. I doubt he's going to have any influence on transfers anyway as Deboys and his team of analysts will be working hard on improving the squad in the meantime.

Well, if nothing happens in the rest of today and tomorrow, the club will have missed the target it set itself for appointing a new manager a few weeks ago. I would have hoped that they’d be working flat out to keep to the deadline - if they can’t, then I reckon something’s gone wrong.

Not going to be Selles according to the BBC - wants to stay in the championship.

Or Tan's got the shortlist, and doesn't like it...

Here’s the article, seems there’s a split among the Board (for what that’s worth) - it reads as if a Murphy or Ramsey appointment would entail the sort of changes Tan has been advised to make by what seems the rest of the world, so does that mean a Buckingham appointment wouldn’t?
