Yeah give it to November and they won't be saying it.
We've had all summer and signed 1 loan keeper.
Board are a disgrace.

Weren't we really good against Peterborough though? i didn't see that game, but the stuff on here was positive.

Well said, the number of times we had a pass ahead of us, took three seconds over it then made the same pass or went sideways or backwards... absolutely mind numbing. That and the fact that both wingers can't get a cross within 5 yards of the closest City player. Really worrying, how many years did we extend Tanner to do his customary three great things a season and barely look like he can kick a ball straight the rest of it? Willock might as well not be on the pitch.

Shortest renaissance ever.

Re: FT: PORT VALE 0 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Did either goalie make a save? Shocking game of football.

Re: FT: PORT VALE 0 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Very poor tonight, but it’s our second game. Away against a side that were right up for it. Final ball was just massively lacking. I don’t think Chambers should have come straight in, nor should he be CB. I think Fish should start, maybe alongside Daaland. Needs physicality in this league, look at how they treated Salech.
We were good on Saturday and I think we will be again. Take a point and move on.
-
Re: FT: PORT VALE 0 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
I don’t think anyone deserved more than a 6 today and I’d give the others 4/5.
A lacklustre performance coupled with some serious poor quality.
Easy to pick Tanner out because he had a lot of the ball, but yet again had one of his games that wasn’t even conference standard.
Willock could have been off the pitch and had more of an impact.
Bagan was lucky not to get sent off.
Chambers doesn’t even stand out in league one.
A point and hopefully a wake up call. Would like to see J Colwill have a seat on the bench next game

We didn't look like scoring throughout the whole 90 minutes against a side that was league 2 last season. They were better than us in every department. Are Port Vale on of the better teams in league 1 ? Because if they're just bang average we're in for a 46 game struggle.

Re: FT: PORT VALE 0 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Crazy this board, this is an example what we haven’t done in the last 3-4 years and take a point away when we haven’t turned up. Your heroes of colwill etc who’s is now the “best player in division 1” and tear it up just proves how bad our fans are, our manager will grind results and we will be ok, but don’t rely on mr inconsistent and focus more on how hard this team will work collectively to grind points and make top 6! (Just an honest opinion! Hopefully I am wrong and he smashes it)

I'm not sure I'd say really good, we looked promising going forward, soft and shaky at the back. You could see something he was trying to build and how we might get there. Tonight was the worst of last season all over again, could have played for a week and not threatened to score.

I think Peterborough were an ideal 1st opponent. Young side not very physical. Their only real physical player gave us issues.
I think any physical side will give us issues.
The 2 outfield changes made us worse as well.
Tanner had a complete and utter mare today which didn't help.
Unless this idiotic board back the manager we will struggle.

I find the signing of a new GK quite strange. Hardly a priority, surely?

God, I'm having second thoughts about this manager already. Gets a keeper as 1st priority, gives captaincy to Chambers, tells everybody how he's impressed by the squad, and thinks he's Pep Guardiola, getting City's midfield to pass the ball back through to defence from an attacking position. No, he must be good, we surely haven't got another dud.

Re: FT: PORT VALE 0 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Joel Colwill was the best player for Cardiff by a country mile. Everyone else was mediocre at best.

ahhh come on now and behave....we are top of the league after 2 matches. Tan is grinning like a Cheshire cat spending almost no money at all

Re: FT: PORT VALE 0 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
What I find really frustrating is how often we pass it around at the back, get pressured then end up just lumping it, may as well do that first as last,it was poor,no getting away from it and Tanner was shocking, never once attempted to commit his full back and as has been said, his crossing was dire but please, let’s not get in the depths of despair after tonight.

Peterborough were a bit stand offish and let us play. We should have buried them but they could have easily nicked a point. Tonight I fear will be the first of many. We won’t get an easy ride from anyone away from home and as last season proved we are found wanting against anyone who will put in a shift.

Re: FT: PORT VALE 0 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Some of the overreactions to a 0-0 draw on this thread are almost as extreme as the overreactions to Saturday’s victory. But not quite.

After tonight’s ineptitude, setting fire to CCS would not be regarded as OTT.

Re: FT: PORT VALE 0 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Considering we are 2 games into the season, one of which was a fine performance, there's been a helluva overreaction to one poor game. Even in this game you could see the quality of our movement at times. Agreed we were bullied by Port Vale and our crossing into the box was woeful but I'm not too disappointed with our points total. There are obvious weak links in the team that BBM needs to address but hey we're undefeated and move on to the next game.
-
Re: FT: PORT VALE 0 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Bit of a wasted 9 hours!
The star of the show was our support.
Trott was my MoM by some way, especially the point blank save in the first half.
We were very predictable and easy to figure out / defend against.
Tanner & Willock very frustrating!
Goodnight!
-
Re: FT: PORT VALE 0 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
We got away with an undeserved point tonight so that’s a positive! We need to start learning how to defend corners because Port Vale got “first contact”, as they say in modern football speak , from nearly every delivery into our box.
Thankfully they are not a very good team so couldn’t finish .
Willock and Chambers as senior pros were very poor. I’m pretty sure Willock’s heart isn’t in it and Chambers just isn’t a dominant centre half
Felt sorry for Salech as he was so isolated - at times no team mates were within 20 yards of him .
We got a point because of Port Vale’s limitations in that they lacked quality up front but they worked hard and were very physical.
Trott looked confident in goals, Salech battled but was very isolated and had no service , Kpakio was okay and Wintle kept showing for the ball even though he was below the standard set on Saturday and he improved when Turnbull joined him in midfield. The rest were not very good this evening
-
Re: FT: PORT VALE 0 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Just got back, 2.00am, read through all the posts, I won’t say anything about Tanner,I’ll leave it up to others .
We need our players to frigging shoot and not try and score the perfect goal

It’s an over simplification of course because there was much more wrong with us than just this, but you increase the number of experienced players from last season by two and our performance goes down the tubes. Thought Chambers improved in the second half, but I’ve no idea what he was doing in the first forty five minutes. Willock, I just don’t get, but I thought Tanner was even worse than him.
