After another deep dive into the dark corners of Google I have discovered that 100 million bibles are 'sold' each year (in recent decades). But just one organisation (The Bible Society) accounts for 40% of those 'sales' - and it distributes 'free' copies to anyone it can get to take one! There are other evangelical and missionary organisations and cults that also buy or print vast numbers of bibles and hand them out including the Gideons that are, amazingly, still going and filling up hotel room drawers with unread tomes.Quote:
