We couldnt pass the ball through midfield and Watters just couldnt compete with balls being hit up to him. So much so we were directing a lot of long balls at Drameh which was pretty pathetic.
The fact is the way we were playing Watters never stood a chance. Hugill made a huge difference.
Watters clearly wanted the ball to be played in front of him to run on to and it just wasnt going to happen.
The substitution made a difference but Watters shouldn't have been in that position in the 1st place. He was on a hiding to nothing. If Hugill needed a break Uche should have started and Watters should have been on the bench.

I didn't say he was right but if it's his way of dealing with issues then aslong has the team are performing we need to get used it.
I've been there and done it obviously not in football but it does work if it's used has a positive.
What gets me is you just know people watch his interviews hoping he will say something that offends them :hehe:

I agree Morison doesn't believe he's doing anything wrong although that don't make him right or wrong it's just the way he is.
He reminds me of an ex forces officer type that's abrupt even when doing normal daily tasks :hehe:

Fair enough, like i said, i didn't see the game so maybe i should've reserved judgement. Did Watters attempt to adapt, did he look like a player who thought that this is his lot, so he'd better make the best of it? I'm just trying to see this from Morisons perspective in order to make sense of it, if indeed there is any!

He is doing a reasonable job but the way he is managing staff leaves a lot to be desired. Just because he wears our badge on his tracksuit doesn’t mean we have to adore him or agree on his every word.

I didn’t like him before that and he’s said other things and done other things since the Davies interview which make me dislike him even more. I think he’s a first class prick.
I’m not DML. Just because someone represents Cardiff City I don’t have to blindly like and support everything they do.

Isaak seems to have taken it well and used it has a positive or am i wrong? It seems to me like he has..

Re: the Watters substitution, the TV commentators at the time said that it was an "emotional" decision; that Morison 'threw his arms up in the air' when Watters failed to close down the keeper - this despite having a really clever turn and shot on goal shortly before he was hooked.

We didn’t press as a whole team in the first half hour, we were very passive, he was made a scapegoat because he didn’t run about like an Alex Revell or a Steve Morison.
The game was largely played in our half when he was on and when we did win it back we didn’t even attempt play through the lines we just smashed it aimlessly upfield to him and Davies. Because he’s not a Moore or a Hugill then it was coming straight back but is that really his fault? It’s ok saying he’s not good enough well the tactics were not good enough as far I’m concerned. Especially 1st half.

He tried putting a square peg in a round hole then blamed the square peg for not fitting.

Or maybe Isaak is just a really good player determined to do his best for Cardiff which would have happened with or without being called a hinderance.
We will never know but this Morison is now vindicated is ridiculous as far as I’m concerned. Thats the first bad game, if you could call it that, the lad had for us.

And ironically he declared there would be no more square pegs even though he played two last night. There is no way Eli King is a right attacking midfielder in a month of Sunday’s. Every time he had the ball he passed it backwards, he didn’t know what to do going forward.

I understand some won't like him i've spent years with similar types to him so i'm probably a bit tolerant towards it and don't seem to notice it as much..

Has you say we will never know but some will take what Morison said and crumble but others it will increase determination and drive them on..

But that’s the bloody point. You can’t treat all people the same. If Morison makes some of our good players “crumble” then he’s having a negative effect on Cardiff City.

I’m not sure how King has leapfrogged Bowen… or Pack for that matter

Re: Subs made a huge difference tonight
The general consensus seems to be that Morison was wrong in how he expected Watters to play, and given the service and tactics. That certainly seems the opinion of plenty of fair minded posters.

I agree with that. But what i'm saying is that seems to be the Morison way so some fans will be either moaning after every interview or will need to get used to it

I'd go along with that, although I still can't work out with Morison if he genuinely believes he is doing the right thing with he's actions and open criticism of the younger players, as he feels it will make them mentally stronger and therefore improve them?
Has he just washed his hands of the likes of Bacuna, Pack, Nelson, Vaulkes Collins etc as he feels most of them will be gone by the start of next season so it's not worth the effort?
Is he just out to put himself in the shop window as he isn't guaranteed to be here next season?
Or is he just someone who couldn't give a toss what anyone else thinks or says as he is 100% right in his view?
There is a pattern of youngsters being held up and publicly ridiculed Davies, Bagan, Colwill and Watters etc
When in reality anyone can see that the problem has been with the established players that simply haven't performed this season.
I guess another win on Saturday and the doubters will start to be won over, although personally I don't think just because he has improved recent results that he should be the only candidate the board look at for next season!

Agree with all of that. I really do think that Morison believes that he is doing the right thing when it comes to his open criticisms of certain players, he has to, surely? What kind of person would do that type of thing just for the hell of it?

Let’s see if Watters reacts how Davies did. I think we all agree we need more from Watters if he’s to stay here long term so let’s push him.

Re: Subs made a huge difference tonight
I recorded the game last night and have just watched the key incidents, Sky's analysis of them, Morison's post-match interview and the guests' reaction to it (Jay Bothroyd and Sol Bamba were in the studio).
As Cyclops says above, a couple of the pundits described the Watters substitution as an emotional decision. The cameras perfectly captured Morison throwing his arms in the air and berating Watters for not closing down the keeper quickly enough, and then immediately turning around and signalling to Hugill to get himself ready. They also showed Morison having a bit of a chip at Watters as he came off.
Watters really did look distraught. Credit to Marlon Pack for going over and consoling him, that was a decent thing to do.
My feeling watching the game last night was that the substitution could certainly have waited until half-time and it was something of a petulant move by the manager. It seemed unnecessary to make a public show of Watters in that manner and all of the pundits (Danny Gabbidon, Bothroyd and Bamba) seemed to hold similar views.
As for Morison's post-match interview, to be honest I didn't think it was quite as bad as it seemed when I was reading the words on here this morning. Of course, it would have been easy enough to be kinder to the player and to say something different, and perhaps that would have been more professional, but I didn't think the manner in which the words were delivered was as scathing as I thought it might be.
Afterwards, you could see the ex-City players were a bit uncomfortable about the interview. Bamba made the point several times that Morison treads a fine line when he says these things about players and he needs to be careful or his words could end up doing more harm than good. It was interesting to hear that from someone as experienced and well-respected as Bamba.
Whatever our feelings about Morison are, one thing's for sure - he certainly gives us plenty of talking points.

I was thinking about Dave Jones earlier - my memory (which could be wrong) was that he was pretty popular to begin with, but as time wore on he seemed to irritate people more and more by regularly moaning about various things in his press conferences and getting into spats with the local journalists.
I think in the case of Slade and to a lesser degree in the case of McCarthy, many fans were unhappy about their appointments in the first place. As for Warnock, he seemed very popular for most of his time here, although there were always those who could see through his 'my kind of club, my kind of people' bullshit as he says the same thing everywhere he goes.

Ha ok, but that’s not what you've said so far. Morison is going to rub players up the wrong way and he’s so think skinned it is unreal. We’ll have to get used to it but it doesn’t mean Morison is always right

Think your memory is spot in fairness
