That may be correct - I can't remember the exact dates and haven't got the research notes with me, but the point remains the same - there is no evidence linking the play to the club's nickname.

Similarly, there is no 'evidence' of the Ayatollah gesture being connected to Cardiff City - the use of it on the terraces has created the link, and now the lovely white seats in the new stand are a symbol of that link.

I believe it was Grahame Lloyd who first suggested the link to the play in his 1999 centenary book 'C'mon City', but even he admits in the text that there is no real evidence of it.

I get this is what he's getting at, but how is this dragon any different on the human eye than the old dragon & leek? It's just petty criticism

How long before someone postulates that tan has made the dragon too small on purpose, so that when the next badge is unveiled with a great big dragon it will just be reacting to complaints it was too small.

It's amateurish but maybe that's not really surprising...

Judging a badge as less bad than the last pitiful offering seems a continuation of the race to the bottom that the club is currently engaged in.

A new badge created with fan consultation offered a great PR opportunity for the man with the iron grip on the club. An open goal, if you like. An open goal that Tan clearly had no intention of taking.

It would have been so easy to predict which posters wouldn't see the positive features of this new badge.

In terms of design it is an embarrassment.

The banner with Cardiff City on looks so out of place too!

Someone has spent 5 minutes creating that, tops.

It is simplistic, but what is that scribble at the bottom? It looks silly. It is supposed to represent Wales and the city of Cardiff (according to club website). It's certainly not a Welsh dragon - one of the main characteristics of a Welsh dragon, and a difference between Eastern and Western dragons, is that it has wings.

That looks fine. No Fire & Passion, it's in the right colour; there is a bluebird on it. The dragon looks a bit odd simply because of scale. I've got no problem with it being there, we've had daffodils, footballs, a big yellow cross. Another dragon doesn't really bother me. If anything, the sort-of-3d effect and the shape of the crest is more offensive as they look a bit mid-90s, but if you blanked out the club name and asked a football supporter whose badge it was, I'm pretty sure they would be able to identify it as ours.
