If england had faced any of the above in this tournament I'd have had England as slight favourites against any of them.
Yes any result could have happened, but they are definitely in the same class as any of the above.

He was good this tournament, probably played better than he did in 2018, but happened to get less goals

But France, for me the best team in the tournament were there for the taking. England just couldn't do it. Like Belgium, they just don't have the bottle.
anyone can miss a penalty

I find it a bit odd that England are being compared to teams that have won things

Especially if its their second one in the same game.
Much easier to put the first one away as he's probably already decided where he's going to place it. Much more indecision with the second, especially against your own clubs keeper.

He's supposed to be a world class player
Trained to deal with pressure
He put it in the stands .......

Are you able to compare Leicester and Spurs?

I remember a manager recently saying that they would't let a player take 2 pens in the same game for exaclty that reason - possibly warnock

The ‘keeper certainly isn’t world class nor are Henderson, Rice, Stones, to name four.

Sludge please go back to talking about heavy metal music and virtue signalling. Reading the utter shite you talk when you try and get involved in football discussion makes me want to stab myself in both eyeballs.

I don't like the term world class, but yeah I agree that the keeper isn't at the level of the rest of them - same problem as Danny Ward - Short arms.
Stones has played like 200 games for a ridiculous Man City team - he's a good player
I never really rated Rice, but I think I've been proved wrong on that front as he'd developing into a very good player - I'd expect him to be playing champions league football very soon.
Henderson I can understand the criticism, but he's still performing at a high level.
If you look at any of the other big sides though they probably have even bigger weaknesses than those in their squads.

Didnt work though under Warnock - both Madine and Hoilett missed 😁

Sludge is right though, England lost the euro final on home soil to a team that didn't even qualify for the world cup. They may look Good against lesser teams but when it comes to the crunch they are toothless.

But that's because of Southgate, playing 5 at the back with 2 DMs, and settling for a 1-0 lead in the first half.
Against France, he went 433 and most people agree they were the better side and unfortunate to lose, against the world champions no less.

Italy played really well at the Euros, they did not look like a poor team at all in that tournament. what they did subsequently has no bearing on this Euros win.

They will probably sack him but they shouldn't. He's the right man to get the best out of those players as England are not a top level international side even though they think they are .
A good Manager would have beaten an injury-ravaged French side with 3 World Class players out, they'll never get a better chance, with Morroco in the semis and Argentina or Croatia in the final.
If Southgate was Welsh or Scottish he'd probably be managing a Championship side.

Yes, that was so obvious wasn't it, he was nervous on the first one against his own club team keeper.
A good Manager would have planned for that event, it's way too much pressure to have two penalty options, and based on that he would have taken a third. That's basic stuff and possibly cost them a World Cup.
