One slight positive, we are a point closer to Oxford. I still think it'll be 3 out of 9

Tanner has little to offer when a full-back can read him. He seems to be all or nothing.

Put them on at the same time and there's some pace on both flanks for defenders to worry about.

Harsh. We are missing him. Links we'll with Colwill , works hard.

I doubt Riza has any idea how to get the best out of what he has.
Should never be in this position he's out of his depth.

there's a few players he's getting more out of than other recent managers

I'd agree, a 30 minute player.

There’s a lot of criticism of El Ghazi on here but against the majority I’ll blame the way Alnwick bowled the ball out deep everytime. El Ghazi & Alves were free & alone so many times in the first half. The crowd were screaming for long ball over the top but we never played it once, you have to mix it up.
I must have seen a different game but I thought it was one of our better performances but again lacking in front of the 18 yard box until Rambo came on & showed how to do it.

I see a lot of criticism of Riza, but I think we need to accept that some of these players are just not good enough. The opportunities were there, but the final pass was either poor or not attempted, this only changed with the introduction of Ramsey, I find it hard to see what a different manager could get out of these players.

Have to admit Ramsey look a class above when he came on. I'd play him like that - later in the game as opposed to starting. Having only one of our awful CB's on the pitch was a bonus today, and again both Bagan and Ashford showed what neat tidy footballers look like. Alves and Manservant played well. All things considered an enjoyable game, but in truth we need to be winning games like this at home if we're to stay up. I think the goal [offside or not] again illustrates our indiscipline and lack of concentration in defence - it's quite hard to defend a free kick with your arms up in the air..

Of course some aren't good enough. In particular some he chose to start.

Not so sure he was on it again today, and based on the last few performances, I wouldn’t start him at Plymouth next Saturday
Colwill did well, Bagan was excellent and I like the look of Mannsverk and Alves
I just hope we don’t run out of games while the manager plays Riza roulette with his selections

He wasn't great, although he should have started today, it would have been harsh to drop him after a couple of not so great games, especially as he's our top scorer and all that. Although if he is shifted for the next game, then I wouldn't be that surprised. Colwill did well without creating anything, and can't really say much more about him, and until he starts scoring more regularly or creating goals for other players, then I don't really have much more to say that hasn't been said already. That's why he's in the team. Bagan looks composed and more comfortable than he ever has. He always used to look a bit nervous to me, he's looking assured. Can't call Mannsverk yet, Alves the same, too early for me👍

If they were of premier league potential would you back yourself to call that pretty quickly?
We haven't seen too many ever at ccfc but those that are normally stand out pretty much immediately.

What a strange thing to say on a football discussion messageboard

You mean Mannsverk and Alves? If so, then no, it's a personal thing, I really don't like too much early talk about young players. I know that it's going to happen, like it did with a certain Mr C on here. I'd rather not get involved too early, unless they're Messi, Ronaldo or Nathan Blake .......

Well, I’ve just spent a good part of my blog piece comparing the performance of our younger players today with their seniors. I thought, with one exception, they outperformed the older players. I feel we played pretty well today and I’m not saying the senior players were dreadful, but it seems to me that it’s our younger players who are more likely to come up with game changing moments that can turn losses into draws and draws into wins.

Do whatever you like, it's your party. Mine is a wider point, Father Dougal asked if I would call them if they were premier league class, not in comparison to some bang average championship footballers, I answered him honestly, I wouldn't be talking them up that early, no chance, I like to wait, I leave that to other people...

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 1 BRISTOL CITY. Match thread
I think their goal was definitely offside, but very close

I think you need to make an early judgment on someone like Alves who, I’m sure, isn’t going to be with us for more than another ten weeks or so. Based on what Ive seen of him over three games, he’s a Premier League player in the making.

I’d go along with that, and to be fair to Tuerto, who’s one of the best posters on here we have had some good discussions about certain players , even if we have totally different opinions about them
