Re: FT: BRISTOL CITY 2 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Not much in it all told. However, as much as I like Morison, he can't keep ducking these questions about strikers any more. 3 goals in 5 games. If that continues, it'll be his own downfall.

Yes, they’re a lot better than us in forward areas, not sure about at the back mind.

Re: FT: BRISTOL CITY 2 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Very poor showing from the team today, a yard or two shy off the pace of the hosts and never really got going.
Peculiar how the officials struggled to give basic decisions in Cardiff's favour, in particular Colwill who I am surprised still has a shirt on at the end of his stint in the game. But it's no excuse for the 2 goals and potentially more conceded on the day.
Cardiff need to be better than that and Morison has a decision to make. He cannot keep turfing off the starting striker who is yet to score a goal before the hour mark and keep starting him. Either rotate him out and start with Harris/Etete or back your man and keep with him into the later stages of the game. If anything the lack of cutting edge in the final third further highlights the need to strengthen.
In short, yet another frustrating derby where Cardiff just didn't turn up.

Re: FT: BRISTOL CITY 2 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
When are we going to turn up for a derby game?
That said, if Watters puts us ahead it's a different game.

We're not desperate for a striker - we're absolutely desperate for at least two strikers. As long we have defenders who can't defend we're going to at least need strikers who can score. It' utterly unfathomable why we're 6 games into the season without a single Championship quality striker.

They were definitely vulnerable but Kipre & Simpson didn't look great today

Apparently, it’s disrespectful to question the lack of goals…
In fact, it’s 3 goals in 6 games. I thought the midfield was poor today - Sawyers looked well off the pace, Wintle likewise and Rinomhota was largely anonymous.
Wintle’s set-pieces are poor. Surely O’Dowda would be a better bet? Speaking of which, he disappeared in the second half.

Agreed. Ralls has been disappointing this season and doesn't seem to fit into Morison's new setup this season. His distribution was again rather poor today.
The biggest problem, however, is in the final third. City looked good for much of the first half, but lacked someone to hold the ball up and 'finish' the movement. Max Watters is not delivering at this level in spite of having had a few chances to put the ball away. Against Bristol City and West Brom he was through on goal in each game with only the keeper to beat but lacks the killer instinct.
In this respect, we need to bring in a striker ASAP if we are to achieve anything this season.
Just my 2 cents..

Re: FT: BRISTOL CITY 2 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
How close is Isaak Davies to fitness.?
I think when Morison sees Watters complete lack of movement when O Dowda crosses I think thats him done.
The misses are one thing the lack of movement to get in the box inexcusable.
Until Davies is fit then either start with Harris or play Colwill as a striker.

I've been banging on about SM having a good eye for a footballer but having seen Simpson today, albeit the 2nd half only, I think I should retract that statement. What a carthorse !

Re: FT: BRISTOL CITY 2 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Preston next, I doubt that one will be first on the highlights show.
Morrison probably peaked far too early in his irritation regarding questions about strikers and goals. Should be having a lot more to answer if they don't bottle it.

Thing with Colwill is that he does have some flaws to his game, he can't tackle, isn't very good with his back to goal and doesn't put himself in good positions from a defensive point of view (in my opinion of course) But, here's the rub, in the final third he causes damage, he can change things, he's assertive in attack and makes his decisions quickly in those areas. For me, that's enough to play him from the start, f uck it, compensate for those flaws and let him develop. He may never be any good at the 'Other' side of the game, plenty of creative players aren't, but we are desperate for a spark, some individual creativity, and he has that. Morison can't wait forever, he needs to make a call on Colwill and get others to compensate for him. Do it now Steve!

Id be very tempted to play Colwill up front v Preston.

Yup, although he would need some support. He's a front foot player.

Re: FT: BRISTOL CITY 2 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
The view from Bristol City fans:
- We looked good for that 20 minutes in the middle of the 1st half and if we'd scored they might have struggled to get back into it
- It looked like a lot of our players gave up when the 2nd goal went in
- Watters was hopeless
-
Re: FT: BRISTOL CITY 2 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
We'd do better if we had a striker who can score.
As it stands, our strikers (if we have any) can't hit a cow's arse with a banjo.

Agreed, the stuff he's bad at, he's awful at but he's the best attacking player we have. Our midfield is so pedestrian at the minute, Sawyers has been a bit of a disappointment at times to say the least. Colwill has to play.

He'd need runners off him, which we don't have. That O'Dowda pull back was offensively bad from the rest of the team. All stood on their heels outside the box. Watters never breaks his neck to go front post etc, he's just not very good.
