I know someone who now replaces every ‘have’ with ‘of’ and is convinced it is proper English. An example would be - ‘Of you ever been abroad’ or ‘What do you usually of for breakfast’. This came about because of the widespread use of ‘could of’ instead of ‘could have’ and the fact that no one ever corrects it any more. It is, basically, gibberish.

There's a certain high profile user on the other board who continually uses "could of". I'm not sure if his grasp of English is really that poor or whether he's taking the p**s !
