He started with a team with only one player in the forward 6 with pace, and amazingly every sub he made us slower. You can blame the players and they are mostly shite, but if nobody is getting into space because they don't have the physical attributes to do so who the feck are they supposed to pass to?
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 2 LUTON TOWN. Match thread
Hugely disappointing that, no great surprise to see what Luton did by bullying us all game long and effectively so. What has Cian Ashford done to not be on that pitch? Mannsverk should have started to at least give us a bit of bite in midfield. Watch us go and win at Blackburn now!
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 2 LUTON TOWN. Match thread
That's it from me.
No more football.
Till tomorrow.
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 2 LUTON TOWN. Match thread
As has already been said that was a terrible performance, we are sleep walking towards relegation. I think both those teams tonight will go down
Ramsey did show some urgency in the first half but he was the only one and he was running around ineffectively. The rest showed no passion or commitment to take the game to Luton
We scored the goal from nothing and you think okay, it’s not been good but lets keep things tight and see this out but we have such a soft centre it was nailed on we would concede at least once and more than likely twice as we do most games
The substitutions yet again left us completely without shape and we hardly laid a glove on Luton in the last 10 minutes despite our desperate situation. To be honest it looked to me like the players had given up by the end which is unforgivable
Compare that feeble effort to how Portsmouth played against Leeds on Sunday, we were an embarrassment
As Eric said this is collectively on both the managers and the players
It seems like we’re doomed now but if we can just concentrate on keeping a clean sheet to begin with then there are still games left but I have no faith the manager can sort this and the players have either lost faith in him or are confused by what the plan is or just have no fight . All the chopping and changing isn’t helping either
So depressing in the stadium tonight
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 2 LUTON TOWN. Match thread
No Bagan , no Ashford players who will fight and have played well. Meite off the bench , Willock off the bench. Does he find it easier leaving out younger players.
It's not Meites fault either but that was a really depressing substitution.

I'm not sure putting on a left back was going to help :hehe:

I normally try to give a considered opinion but I’ve just got home having wasted nearly 7 hours of my life.
THAT WAS ABSOLUTE SHITE.

Haha , I waffled on in my post above but that sums it up much more succinctly
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 2 LUTON TOWN. Match thread
Bringing on Meite. A player who has scored 1 goal in 2 years? You couldn't make it up.

It may have helped starting a left back at left back mind.
He could also have pushed O Dowda up. Instead we got Meite.
I don't think it would have made a difference. We are just a complete mess as a side now under Riza. I don't think they know what they are doing as a team and individuals look clueless in their roles.
More changes according to him upcoming as well. 😂😂😂😂
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 2 LUTON TOWN. Match thread
What the hell can we say about that?
The first half - don’t they think the first half matters?
The goals - Hovarth glued to the turf
Gutas - the ball was either going wide or trickling to the keeper. Just par for the course with him though.
The character - non existent.
Strategy - there isn’t one.
Subs - laughable if not so serious.
A long slow death awaits from here to May.
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 2 LUTON TOWN. Match thread
Can't help but think that this was a pivotal game in our season - a game that would've given us breathing space. A game that needed both the players and manager to step up and show some fight. All it's given is those around us some hope, hope that will inspire teams like Luton, Portsmouth and Derby to fight. Something which we haven't got.

For once, I'm pretty much lost for words. You could have heard a pin drop on our minibus back to the pub after the game. It was shocker, plain and simple.

That's so true. When a couple of Luton players pick up a pass and they move quickly upfield with the ball, you then realise how pedestrian and ordinary the majority of the squad are. That's how you create space, when we had the ball it looked like we were trying to pass our way through platform 8 on Paddington station when the GWR passengers disembark..
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 2 LUTON TOWN. Match thread
Luton were poor, very poor, to be expected from a team with such a away record.
They bullied us to a man though and that's the sort of quality you need to get out of a relegation battle.

They did their homework that's all.
Trying to play from the back should be with a view to breaking the line of the high press and punishing the opposition.
We succeed in breaking the line then go sideways and backwards again.
Tactical naivety from Riza and ALL players not buying into the approach is a recipe for disaster.

Riza and he’s bizarre tactics are too blame for a lot of things from last night, I don’t know if the players don’t buy into it or what, but there’s no hiding place for a lot of them from last night’s performance
We’ve cried out for pace all season, and he starts with one pacy forward, bonkers?
Some of those masquerading as footballers last night need to take a long hard look at themselves
Gutless

We succeed in breaking the line then go sideways and backwards again.
That was very evident last night- there were occasions when we worked the ball into a half decent position to launch an attack, only for the player with the ball to either lack the ability or confidence to see or play the right pass.

I parked down by the Clive, so spent the 20 minute walk back muttering & cursing to myself. Fortunately so was everyone else.
