Really? You thought J Colwill was better than R Colwill? What drugs are you on?
One or two nice touches second half but the game completely passed J Colwill by first half.

Not sure what the barometer is going to be for the division but Peterborough were absolutely terrible. Worryingly, they looked like they could / would score every time they went forward.

Only the last twenty mins. Didn’t think they looked like scoring at all before that. Did they have a shot before the pen?

Just got back …. and feck did I enjoy that. Where have the last 5 years gone?
Superb atmosphere, every starting player gave everything, how fit are Rubin & Salech? Rubin physically looks changed, fit & calm.
Wintle was excellent, clever, accurate and won virtually every tackle. Why the feck was he on loan last season?
My only concern is how to keep up that level of energy with 7 games this month.
The warm up practice was repeated time & time in the game to great effect and the watering of the pitch was very tactical.

I can answer that for you. It’s because we were in the Championship. Wintle had a decent game today against poor League One opposition. This is his level.

We looked far more likely to score everytime we attacked which was far more often than them.
Saying that if the clowns running our club are serious about a promotion attempt then they need to invest in our defence which looks fragile.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 1 PETERBOROUGH UTD. Match thread
Having just read through this thread, I’m somewhat shocked about the mediocre & negative comments. That was the most enjoyable City performance I’ve seen this decade.
City went for it from the first whistle, the pressing, which lasted 100+ minutes was high energy and the lateral pressing across from player to player obviously well rehearsed. In warm up they practiced the overlap and cross field pass for at least 10 minutes and watered the pitch deliberately down the wings. The structure and discipline was excellent.
Yes we looked vulnerable at the back on times but that’s because of the forward commitment. We’re going to win games 4-3 this season.
The pass accuracy into & out of tight spaces was exceptional and most importantly players were confident enough to do it.
MoM for me Ryan Wintle. He did nothing wrong. He made the side tick, movement and passing, always available and very calm. The youngsters did the running and found the spaces and Wintle got the ball to them.
Super positive team performance.

I get that but I don’t get the wasted loan, Siopis for example definitely no better.

I thought we looked a little suspect when Daland come on.

If memory serves, there was a suspicion he was involved in some sort of disagreement with Bulut. But it’s academic. Wintle was average at best on a good day in the Championship. He’ll almost certainly be more useful in League One.

Are you shocked? Some in here wouldn’t be able to sleep if they were 100% positive.

Will you be ecstatic with our performances in L2? joking aside the club believe that we can bounce back up with squad we have. We made no money on the players that have left. time will tell. I think it's going to be a rough ride. I hope i'm wrong.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 1 PETERBOROUGH UTD. Match thread
Went pretty much how I thought, dominate the ball but get caught out through sloppy play and a very nervy finish because that's just how it has to be.
Overall a positive performance with 7 academy graduates. We will need some reinforcements in as tougher tests I'm sure will come and we did look a bit fragile at times.
Big fan of the work rate, pressing and at times continually won the ball back. Some nice football just maybe could have got a shot away once or twice in decent positions.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 1 PETERBOROUGH UTD. Match thread
Was Turnbull injured today?, I will be very surprised if there aren’t at least three outfield players coming in before the end of August. We all see matches in a different way but I thought Peterborough were extremely limited coming forward and can’t remember our box being really threatened before the penalty, Tanner concerned me in the first half, thought ne was reluctant to actually take his full back on and commit him, didn’t really think Ashford contributed a lot either.

Blimey. Talking absolute rubbish already after ONE game.
Wintle has been a decent player for us but fell out with Bulut for some reason and so went out on loan.

How did it work out for him, Bobsy?

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 1 PETERBOROUGH UTD. Match thread
Honestly, I'd be happier today if it wasn't for personal circumstances dragging down my mood a bit. So this isn't necessarily a fair litmus of how I'd feel if we won generally. It did cheer me up a bit though.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 1 PETERBOROUGH UTD. Match thread
Felt Kpakio is really, really raw but has loads of talent. Lawlor is incredibly raw as well, very rash defensively but so much talent on the ball. He was extremely lucky to still be on the pitch. Joel Colwill has a terrific engine but lacks a touch of class on the ball, hopefully that will come. Surprised at Turner, he was very good in what he had to do.
Really struggled to get Rubin and Salech into the game first half, defensively we were at 6s and 7s a lot of the time. it's going to be really hard to be a centre half in this side as the full backs are pushed on so high, they're really isolated when we give the ball away.
Ashford was completely anonymous all game, Tanner really grew into it. Wintle was great in there, Rubin doesn't need any further plaudits but took the game by the scruff of the neck. We should have been out of sight. Promising signs, if this clicks, we could blow some sides away but on the other side, there's definitely a chance we get pumped playing like this!

Anyone know what was written on the shirt the Colwill brothers walked around the pitch with after the game?
