They've gone and cocked it up again, haven't they. Offered job, turned down, gone back to Tan, runner up offered job but gets the hump and says "you'll have to wait [while I explore all my options]".

Malky McKay was the front runner early on and looked a nailed on certainty. The club then went all out for Alan Shearer and he went to well.odds on and looked a certainty for the job. He then decided he wouldn't come. Malky happily took the job on.
We should be going all out for out number 1 choice. Im not totally convinced Jones has been spoken to mind and this isn't another itk rumour. I mean Des Buckingham was confirmed as manager on the other site a couple of days ago and someones mate had seen a text from Evatt confirming he had the job.
All a complete load of bollox.
What I would say is the fact there seems to be a delay I think probably is they are trying to get an in contract manager or a much better candidate than the likes of Buckingham and Evatt.
If we are now looking at in contract managers a small flutter on Richie Wellens may be worth a punt.
Id still say Buckingham is the most likely appointment mind.

That contradicts what we've been told though. 3 applicants interviewed, all presumably keen on the job, sent to Tan 3 weeks' ago. It would only take a couple of days at most to sort out contractual issues at both ends. No, I think they've f****d it up again !!

Has the club actually confirmed they've interviewed the 3 names or have the candidates. Ramsey they've confirmed they've spoken to but as he was interim that was understandable. Has he actually said he wants the job and had a proper interview.
If the other 2 are Evatt and Buckingham. Maybe they didn't impress.
I do think its a fair chance they've fecked again though.🤣🤣🤣
If this delay is because we've had to wait for say Jones , Wellens or Challinor or trying to get someone like O Neill then fair enough.
Hopefully we find out in the coming week.

Its far more likely Tan doesn't fancy any of them, or they're waiting for RVN to get sacked at Leicester so they can get BBM without compensation.

The delay must be because the message board is running slowly.

I think that "news" was his article saying we were trying to get Jones

This mornings odds
Jones 1-2
Ramsey 6-4
Evatt 7-2
Buckingham 8-1

Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
Has it not sunk in yet that these odds you keep posting are completely useless? I don’t know where you’re getting them from, but during the last couple of weeks you’ve told us there have been four different odds-on favourites.
Unless Vincent Tan is compiling the odds they clearly have no value.

I'll bet you are right!

Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
I only wish they had the market on Betfair, would be great to lay each one when they come right in.
I saw sky bet had a next man u manager the other week, taking money whilst the current guy is still in place
Must be so profitable.

Chill out. It's not my fault there's been different favourites.🤣
They are from Bet Victor.

What are the odds on this?
-
Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
How likely is it this Jones stuff is all bullshit so the club can say "we did our best" when we inevitably appoint Ramsey or Purse?

Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
Everyone’s playing a game and we usually lose those.

I think we’ll have a new manager and sacked him by then

Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
Jack Wilshere the front runner for the Plymouth job
I wonder if he was 1 of the 100 initial alleged applicants for us !
-
Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
Jim Goodwin now 12/1 Dundee managed, not noticed him previously in the odds

Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
Well, according to the other place we've been pursuing Jones throughout but Charlton's severance valuation increased upon promotion to around £4.5m incl. back up staff. Tan wanted to pay over 5 years but Charlton insisted all up front.
The mind boggles at what the club's back-up plan is, if this is true.

If true, that is crazy money for us to be paying.

Re: New manager speculation / rumours thread
I know the club gets criticised for shopping in the yellow sticker section of the market, but I'm not sure why, now we're a lower league club, we need to go out on a limb for someone of this stature (especially as he's likely to be sacked in a year). There are other options if we're looking for a short term fix. Also, if we're going to pay 4.5M (ish) can't we look for something better and long-term? Answer: probably not.

I honestly don't understand why anyone would believe that ITK posts on a message board (whichever one) have anything to do with truth. There was a time long, long ago when the club had a Deep Throat and an association with ice-cream lickers, but that is no longer the case.
From what I can see most of these posts (and the fee or salary figures that are also sprayed around) come from pure sad-kid-in-a-bedroom wind ups on the net, from people like Abbandonato or Witcoop who need to appear relevant and connected (even when the quality of their so-called information is often shit) and from home grown posters who need attention and think they are bound to get it right one day!

Yep overwhelming majority of it is clearly bollocks, a small percentage are agents pushing their own agendas, an equally small amount then may actually have some level of truth.
It's quite easy to look like you know something, just hedge your bets across four or five different managers and then sing from the rooftops when one of them comes in.

Of course its not true.
Same as Buckingham wasn't our new manager a few days ago.
