Re: BULGARIA v WALES. Match thread
Reasons to have England friendly: it's easy to organise, it reduces travel when we already have two away games it's a test for our players and gives a chance for closer look at how Southgate operates.
Reasons not to have England friendly: there are only three positives to this decision and countless potential negatives... every negative that could have happened has in fact happened.
What is it with Wales and feckin' themselves over with too many England friendlies? Rugby and now football. Giggs picking such a small squad and leaving out Doidge and Chester suddenly looks a poor decision. Let's hope the international window ends finally produces a positive note.

Brooks also out. Moore suspended. Going to be a slog tomorrow night.

It's going to be a long night

Re: BULGARIA v WALES. Match thread
Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey, David Brooks, Joe Allen, Kieffer Moore and Hal Robson-Kanu all out
eek.

Re: BULGARIA v WALES. Match thread
Sounds like another bore draw. This could benefit Finland the most.

Think that was always going to be the deal, no way he was going to play 2 games back to back. Maybe Giggs thought Ireland was the best chance.

Could you list all the negatives?

I hope we play in Red shirts, that mishmash they wore in Ireland was horrible

Apparently to do with colour blindness! Agree was an awful combination of kits.

13,000 reported.
Can see it being a hostile atmosphere even with that meagre crowd.
Not holding out much hope for this one tbh and I will be surprised if our recent shots on target average will alter significantly.
At least Hennessy is on form.

:hehe:
I was implying that Giggs will almost certainly set up camp on our own 18 yard box.
Hennessy may well get MOM even if we lose!
Hop I'm wrong though eh

I think injuries dictate a change of tack here.
Get men behind the ball and break quickly, don't press too high up the pitch to draw them out a bit and play more directly.
Not how we want to play in the longer term, but needs must.

Re: BULGARIA v WALES. Match thread
Hard to think of a worse situation for Wales than missing almost the entire frontline, playing away and coming off the back of 3 pretty awful performances (the goal against Bulgaria aside).
Guess it's a chance for the younger team members and some support players to step up but it's going to be a massive ask to make anything tonight.

Re: BULGARIA v WALES. Match thread
Anybody have an idea on how we are going to line up for this one?

Same back 5, maybe Morrell and Vaulkes/Levitt/Smith in midfield. Roberts up front with Williams, Wilson and James/Matondo supporting the striker.
Other option is Ampadu in midfield with Morrell, and Cabango in defence.

Re: BULGARIA v WALES. Match thread
Mepham's back so it could be him & Rodon with Ampadu in midfield

Ah, I didn't know he was fit again. I'd like to see a back three with Williams and Davies as wingbacks, but I doubt it. Probably be Ampadu in midfield which would be the sensible decision.

Re: BULGARIA v WALES. Match thread
My team for tonight;-
Hennessey
Mepham (if fit, if not Cabango)
Rodon
Davies
C Roberts
Williams
Ampadu
Vaulks
Wilson
James
T Roberts
Can't see Giggs going for three at the back though and I reckon Smith will start in front of Vaulks, with Jonny Williams in for Wilson.
