Anyone had corticosteroid injections?
What are they like?
I've got Morton’s neuroma, I've got to have an x-ray on thurs to confirm I haven't broken anything and when they've done that I'm told I will need an ultrasound-guided corticosteroid injection in my foot.
Just the thought of a needle going in my foot is making me feel sick tbh :frown:
"In most cases corticosteroid injections provide temporary relief, lasting up to a few weeks"
That is my problem ^^ I don't really like taking any medications at the best of times and the thought of needing more of these and the side effects they can have I'm wondering if I should bother at all? I don't want to make it worse for myself.
Has anyone had this or know anyone who has had it and managed it themselves?

My missus has that condition she's waiting to see someone up the Heath about whether she can have the injections or surgery to sort it out

Re: Anyone had corticosteroid injections?
Man Up ffs :hehe:
I had a couple of cortisone jabs in my shoulder (frozen shoulder) a few years back. Complete waste of time in my case.
I had to google Morton's wotsit, and it looks like you have options - anti-inflammatories or a (temporary) shoe insert.

Re: Anyone had corticosteroid injections?
I had one on an inflamed peroneal tendon .....outside of ankle basically ......not that painful and it did the trick till I completely tore my ligaments then it was game over

I joined a couple of support pages on fb and some of the stories are quite grim tbh :hehe: some are much worse than when they started.

I can walk ok in shoes with a slight heel, I'm a barefoot kinda person though that's my trouble.

Re: Anyone had corticosteroid injections?
Serrapeptase worked for a woman I did some work for, She bought it from Amazon, cheap as chips.

Re: Anyone had corticosteroid injections?
Never had them myself, but a colleague had them once and he stated that when the pain returned, it was twice as bad.

This is what I keep seeing and it's putting me off, I really don't want to make it worse, I promised my daughter I would take her pony trekking. :hehe:

Re: Anyone had corticosteroid injections?
My old man had one of those shots in his shoulder, he said that if he didn't get the shot he wouldn't have been able to bear the physio exercises he had to do that eventually made his shoulder better.
Don't know if that applies in your situation but there you go.

If it's a case of just being able to walk pain free for a few weeks I don't really see the point as it's just going to come back and maybe be worse, I was told that walking in sand is really good for strengthening the feet and it also supports the foot arches, I need to rig up some sort of sand exerciser at home so I don't have to go to the beach in the rain.

Re: Anyone had corticosteroid injections?
I'm not sure if it's the same injection but I had a Frozen Shoulder for about a year.
Eventually they injected into the shoulder joint to " expand the joint " to see if it would help.
The injection kept going for 30 minutes or so until I thought my shoulder would explode and I was wincing
with the pain.
However it did work and ten years later the problem has not returned

Re: Anyone had corticosteroid injections?
Hi Mrs Steve R. My wife has/had that. She has gone through shockwave, then steroid, then when those didn't work- surgery. Waited ages on NHS, but surgery has worked quite well. She went from being a runner to unable to do anything, even dog walks. A lot better now. New special shoes . Know what you mean about forums on this..Pinch of salt. Good luck. I know it's painful. Especially for hubby listening to it. ☺️X

Re: Anyone had corticosteroid injections?
Put a glass marble in your shoe, that'll help.

Thanks, kind of confirmed my thoughts of it being pointless though, I don't fancy surgery either, I better get some sand in.
