Dick Advocaat - Turns down Cardiff job
Claims we've approached him to be manager, and his wife has told him to turn it down.
He's 77, so might be able to win our YPOTY

Re: Dick Advocaat - Turns down Cardiff job
baffling.
I wonder if this was before we appointed Riza, or recently, or with a view to taking over in the summer.
Seems Advocaat himself was baffled by the approach - what a club eh?

It was recently. Either Riza is going, or the win at Blackburn was a stay of execution

I'm glad his snowballs are shit.

It’s a Warnink sign for Riza.

maybe we were looking for a potential stop gap in case we had to sack Riza after Blackburn .
Advocaat is national team manager for Curacao - and is 77. if it was me I'd probably have a couple of easy years in the Caribbean before retirement, rather that joining this madhouse.
Curacao are actually playing Kazakhstan in a friendly before they play Wales in this international break

Main thing is the board obviously still have their finger on the pulse all things football. We are so going places folks

Re: Dick Advocaat - Turns down Cardiff job
This emergence of this story will be more than a little embarrassing for the club's hierarchy, especially given the timing. I wouldn't mind betting we'll see a public denial on the club's website in due course, or maybe Dalman will speak to his friends at Walesonline.

Re: Dick Advocaat - Turns down Cardiff job
Cardiff City also noticed these performances. The team from the English Championship asked whether Advocaat wanted to become the new coach. Advocaat is a bit annoyed when that comes up. "Then someone from the staff must have talked." But he doesn't deny it. "It was informal. It's strange that they still come at my age. But the home front didn't really agree." ESPN NL
Completely bizarre, and as TLG says, very embarrassing. Dalman will deny it and WOL will gloss over it

Re: Dick Advocaat - Turns down Cardiff job
Baffling. His wife’s turned down south Wales to stay in the Caribbean?
-
Re: Dick Advocaat - Turns down Cardiff job
seems like it was an informal sounding out rather than a job offer. probably just seeing what options are available for an end of the season push if they decide to get rid of Riza.

Random, and a shame for Sludge as I know Dick Advocaat is his favourite drink at Christmas

Re: Dick Advocaat - Turns down Cardiff job
It’s funny the club get slammed rightly for having no plan and sacking manager without someone in mind. Now they are having informal chats, probably agents trying their luck to push them onto us and it’s a bad thing.
I don’t really believe it tbh.

Re: Dick Advocaat - Turns down Cardiff job
it’s strange because this made me google whether there’s a heavy drinking culture in Malaysia, but there doesn’t seem to be.
I wonder if then theyre recording for some sort of fly on the wall comedy but it’s not being released until tan goes?

Re: Dick Advocaat - Turns down Cardiff job
With some the Club can’t win whatever they do.
All this is a load of cobblers.
As it goes Damned if they do, Damned if they don’t
