Re: PRESTON NORTH END v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Preston draw a lot of games at home, but rarely lose. 5 draws and 2 wins in league games this calendar year.
Over the same period our away form shows 4 draws, 3 defeats and 1 win.
On the face of it a nailed on draw.
No point trying to guess team, all I hope is that Riza realises that he cannot put all these forwards on the pitch without a solid midfield.
1-1 draw

At the risk of contradicting myself about no point guessing team, I just do not think that team works. Either Davies or Alves to drop out in favour of Roberston or Turnbull.

Preston are pretty strong defensively, but don't score many.
They tend to start games strongly, get a goal up and then shut up shop.
They sound like the worst possible kind of team for us to face at the moment tbh

It's essentially the same team he's been playing but Robinson replacing Ashford through the middle. Neither known for their defensive prowess and Robinson is far more experienced and likely to score which we need at this point.
Dropping one of Davies or Alves would be insane, they are the only pace we have.

..and I don't think this is the squad that is handling the weekly build up of pressure too well.

We'll be fine. We're renown for our defensive strength under pressure.

Re: PRESTON NORTH END v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
No idea at all with this game...
I'd love to say we're gunna sneak it as they aren't that great, they're only seven points above us but eight places ahead and only won one game more than us (albeit a few more draws)
What would I even do? I'd probably try and get Turnbull in somehow strengthen up the midfield and play with robinson up front? salech? I really don't know.
I know a lot of people give Riza stick about the team but we have players that play hot and cold on an almost weekly basis so that must give him some headaches.
I'd keep Rino in (I think we may have to anyway with Ng still out?) Fish starts for me, keep the back 4 I'd say (though I don't like O dowda there, I prefer him in midfield)
has a 0-0 or 1-1 written all over it but we could conceed early then play our hearts out, or go ahead then coneed and prestion score a late winner which has happened all too many times this season.
Who knows eh?!

If Ng is back I'd definitely put him in, he's a far better fullback than Rinomhota.
That said from memory Ng struggled with their wing back initially in the home game - Kesler-Hayden- he's on loan from Villa and their player of the season according to a PNE supporting mate.

I’m always afraid, that Andy Rinomhota has a pelanty in him !
Every time a player goes past him, he reaches out and attempts to pull their shirt.
Only needs a soft ref to give a pelanty and perhaps a red card

A City win of 7-0 will overturn their goal difference advantage over us.

Re: PRESTON NORTH END v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Rino as RWB?
Goutas and Daland back - all is forgiven.
Is Colwill out wide again - or narrow with Ashford behind Salech?
Some options on the bench.

Re: PRESTON NORTH END v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Fair play he's officially outed himself as a clown. Going defensive against a team who's season is over when we need wins. What a complete and utter muppet. He's taken all the pace out of the team for **** sake.

It just doesn’t look good does it. Look at that back 6.

Re: PRESTON NORTH END v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
So what was discarded and not good enough for the last 4 weeks is now the solution
I sincerely hope he flukes it but Riza changes his team formations more than I change television channels

Can't say I'm against a defensive set up from the start - plenty of time to change things around later in the game, but with Laurel and Hardy back together I'm just waiting for that pie-in-the-face moment..
