Re: Cardiff City ... legends
Although Rambo is special for many reasons, he didnt play that long for us. Id put Carl Dale, Stant or Dwyer ahead of him in the list
-
Re: Cardiff City ... legends
Good list.
Andy Legg fits the bill I reckon.

I think Whitts will probably be in everyone's top ten.
Just seen the video compilation of his goals ... really cheered me up ... reminding me why I support the City.

Re: Cardiff City ... legends
Hughie Ferguson - 77 goals in 117 appearances for City, including the FA Cup winning goal (no matter the manner of it).
Really sad story though committing suicide at 34, leaving a young family, after sinking into depression.

Everyone loves Kev ... enough to let him shag their wife.
Chopra was a class act at a relatively high level ... you knew he was going to score 'in a minute'.

I wouldn't have John Charles on there. He's a legend, but not a City Legend.

IMO Bellamy was too good for the team. He needed better players around him.
Had he been with us a season or two earlier we may have consolidated in the Premiership instead of the Swans.

Michael Chopra is a City legend. Inspiration on the pitch for me.

Eddie Johnson :ayatollah:

Re: Cardiff City ... legends
Legend is always subjective. But through the years I've always had favourite city players. My first was Tony Evans and over the next 40 years I'd add Buchanan (for one goal) Dave Bennett, Blake, Eddie Newton (even though he was only on loan), Hemmerman, Earnie, Kav, Thorne, Roger Johnson, Koumas, Whitts & Chops,

Re: Cardiff City ... legends
Alex Revell. Slade said we would be impressed.

Re: Cardiff City ... legends

Our all time top goalscorer, Len Davies, deserves to be in there. Billy Hardy was arguably the best player in Britain at the time too, and he's our leading appearance maker. There's quite a few such as Alf Sherwood and Don Murray that I'd have over John Charles, Rambo, Chops etc. I'm really proud of Rambo etc but he only played a handful of games for us. I'd also include Bellamy because he was too good for us but came back at his peak to try and get us up. He didn't have to do it but it was nice that a player of his stature came to us for the right reasons.

Re: Cardiff City ... legends
I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to attaching the name "Legend" to a City player. From my point of view a City legend needs to have a record of long service together with achievement and to be an ex-player. So, for me, Whitts is not a legend at the moment but will be when he packs it in. Ian Gibson, who is one of my all time favourite City players, is not a legend on my book as he only spent 3 years with us and played only 90 games. The word legend seems to be applied far too often and devalues the word. It seems to me that there are some undeserving names mentioned in this thread so far.
I will add Len Davies and Billy Hardy to the names already mentioned.

Re: Cardiff City ... legends
From the original list I personally wouldn't have Ramsey, Chopra or Kavanagh as legends
