Tough :hehe:

Tbh, I didn’t really like to see our player doing that. Keeper wasn’t getting near it.
Tough shit, owly buggers.
As I said in another thread, he crouched down when the ball was kicked, so couldn't be going for the ball. Neither was he obstructin the keeper AS THE BALL WAS KICKED, so couldn't be offside.
Very clever.
Any keeper that leaves one side of the goal that exposed deserves shooting. Sod Flint's antics. His positioning made up Tomlin's mind. Surely, by leaving that amount of free space he was inviting a free kick to go into that side. Poor keeping for me.
They should have had the game wrapped up long before that free kick. We were absolutely dreadful and there for the taking.
I thought it was a bit of a shitty thing to do and looked amateur. The free-kick itself though was superb.
Makes up for the pen we should have had, tough titty
They should be annoyed at their no 9 not jumping. It was only 6 inches over his head !
If that had happened against us I'm fairly sure that we would have been unhappy.

Surely Flint was offside and interfering with play by blocking Goalkeepers vision? Great free kick by Tomlin though!
How whytes really late shot didn’t win it for us I’ll never know, great save by their stand in keeper
To be honest I didn't think it was a free kick . I thought Tomlin turned and ran into the Wednesday payer..
The rules don't seem to be clear on this and some clarification is needed. I'm thinking that Sir Neil is a qualified referee so his opinion has some credibility and he thinks it's okay.
If we can get away with it we should do it more, and if we do it'll catch on. Reminds me of when Gareth Edwards hid the ball under his jersey out of a scrum and ran through with it, and at that time there was no rule to prevent it so it stood.
I don't really know how I feel about it from sportsmanship point of view. But the ball wasn't in play when he was jumping and he ducked down for the kick. If he was in the wall while he did that no one would have a problem with it. As all he did while the ball was in play was duck, can he be said to be offside and interfering with play? I'd be interested to hear a ref's take on it. As for saying we'd be moaning if someone did that to us, how is that relevant?
I didn’t like it but Tomlin’s shot was going in anyway, their keeper would never have saved it
One of our lot does something out of the ordinary, a little bit crackers that results in a goal and some of our fans start with hmmm & tut tut, I’m all for random things like this especially when it ends up in their net. It’s a far cry for our normal predictability.
Why do it though? Why risk being deemed interfering with play and offside and then a sublime free kick and equaliser ruled out?
Tomlin didn’t score because Flint was jumping like an idiot. Any free kick clearing the wall side like that is going in wether the keeper can see the free kick taker or not.
As far as I understand the rule the pictures below highlight the issue.
In line of sight in an offside position and as the ball was played he was actually in the air and only ducked as it came over the top the wall.
I’m not a ref mind, just my understanding.

How about this one? The first photo was just intended to show his position relative to the goalie and the ball better.

The ref and lino were OK with the goal, and they're the only ones that matter.

Was Tomlin fouled? Was Flint offside? here's what the two managers thought.

Neil Warnock had little to say about the referee's decision to award Cardiff a free kick in the 87th minute and then seconds later allow the goal scored by Lee Tomlin with the Wednesday keeper pleading that Aden Flint was interfering with play.

It seemed to be a tactic off the training ground that saw Flint doing star jumps in the box in front of the keeper but as you can only be offside at the moment the ball is kicked Flint crouched down at the last moment to expose the poorly positioned keeper and to not be interfering with play at the moment Tomlin struck the ball. The goal has caused a right rumpus on social media about it's validity but crucially for Cardiff it stood.

“I’ve not looked at it but as long as you’re a yard away from the wall I think you can stand where you want nowadays," Warnock said about the incident.

“I said to the lads at half-time I thought we could win it. I thought they were vulnerable and that they’d had a bit of fortune in the first half.

“On another night we could’ve had a penalty with Flinty having his shirt pulled off, but you don’t seem to get them at the minute.

“I thought we could have won it at the end.”

Surely Aden Flint was offside and interfering with the play, obstructing keeper Dawson’s line of vision by doing jumping jacks behind the wall! Tomlin’s late equaliser for Cardiff was allowed to stand.
Meanwhile Garry Monk saw it completely and for a change it wasn't Neil Warnock having a go at the officials

“I’m disappointed because had we conceded a legitimate goal against us I’d have to take that, but I’m told it’s not even a foul and one of their players is doing a star jump behind the wall to distract our keeper," said Monk.

“How the officials haven’t seen first the foul, but then it’s not hard to see a six-foot-five or six-foot-six defender doing a star jump in front of the wall in an offside position, I don’t see how you can’t see that."
“It is what it is. There were a lot of good things in that game and we should have taken our opportunities as well. We should have been walking off that pitch with a win.”
“They’re a difficult team to play at home,” he said, “they’ve got a really good record here but I just felt the first 55 or 60 minutes we did exactly what I wanted them to do, we didn’t allow them to turn it into that physical scrap like we saw in the last 30.
“The reason we were able to do that is we controlled the ball well. We lost that control in the last 30.
“We’re playing against a top team, an experienced team and we end up with a point. I’m feeling a bit hard done by but there are plenty of positives to keep moving forward with there.”
