Little bit of reflection....
Ralls makes such a difference in midfield....and Morrison shows he is truly committed....knew what he was doing taking the yellow card.... his header reminded me a little (but not as good as...) of Joe Bonson's header away to Leyton Orient 1959/60 when we won 4-3 there!!! hey...how many remember that one!!?

I do, boss! Joe's was eve more of a dive with feet off the ground so he was parallel to the floor if I remember correctly.
There's a super photo out there somewhere, would love to see it again if someone can find it.

Re: Little bit of reflection....
If fit Morrison and Ralls are key players for us. I really don’t think Morrison has been fully fit this season so those games out may be just what he needed.

I was told some years ago that we were playing at Ninian Park in dreadfully wet conditions when Joe Bonson raced towards the ball which was on the edge of the penalty area, slipped and sat on it and he and it hit the net.
I like to believe it.

I remember Joe Dwyer tackling Norman Hunter with his head.

Re: Little bit of reflection....
I remember it and there was a superb photo of his header, in colour (very unusual in those days) In The Reynolds News the next morning.

Totally agree both very good players.

Re: Little bit of reflection....
Yeah people are quick to run down our more established players but we are in dire need of them at the moment. Great to see them step up today.

Re Ralls, I've always though he was average but after watching Vaulks and Bacuna in the week, he looks like Bryan Robson!

FFS ... you're probably not old enough to remember the days when 'Joe' Dwyer & 'Danny' Showers were gods.

I thought that this picture was featured in one of the photo books produced by Richard Shepherd, but I can't find it in the 47-71 volume. Strangely, there are a number of photos of diving headers, but they are all of Derek Tapscott. I know the one you mean, though, and I eventually found it on page 68 of John Crooks' Official History of the Bluebirds. Great photo.

I remember his stomach tackle which left 2 Fulham players on the ground requiring treatment.

Imagine Joe Royle up front alongside Danny Kaye eh, if somebody told you they’d witnessed that, they’d be a right Walter Mitty:hide:

Apologies ... senior moment.
I thought you were agreeing with someone who questioned Phil Dwyer's nickname.

Re: Little bit of reflection....
If we are talking diving headers, this one was pretty good too - (10mins)

Re: Little bit of reflection....
Great clip.....we looked a very happy lot then(!). Must say I was taking in the old ground as much as the game.....lovely to see again, despite all it's problems.....

Re: Little bit of reflection....
How we could do with a Joe Dwyer character today. Or perhaps not, as he would be regularly red-carded I suspect!
