Yep, own goals and a City win.

Re: BIRMINGHAM CITY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Hope that Ramsey will start at last.
We have a very good record v teams below us in table. My only worry is that we are on the beach and Brum aren't.
Bluebirds 1-0

He's usually dreadful, but he was in charge when we won at Preston earlier in the season.

He’s not the worst for sure, but you’re never sure what you’re going to get with him.

He seems to have a very individual interpretation of the offside rule.

Would play Joel Colwill and Ashford instead of Wintle and Robinson. Don't think they will but as there is little to play for from our end, this is the time to play them

This quote implies that the youngsters could put a result at risk. That can’t be the case surely given the useless individuals they would replace?

No it implies that the game is meaningless for us so those who haven't had a chance for whatever reason should be given one.

Birmingham could possibly be relegated, so the clubs around the bottom could complain to the league if we played kids

Wouldn't happen though so not really anything to be concerned with.
-
Re: BIRMINGHAM CITY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
The ‘kids’ that are being touted for a start are squad members, aren’t they and there are players as young or younger getting game time for other clubs in our division. There’d be no problem whatsoever playing Ashford, J.Colwill etc, in fact Birmingham may complain that they’re ‘unfairly’ better than the deadwood they’ve replaced.

Several of our youth players have already appeared in a victory over Birmingham this season, including Ashford

Who knows, they haven't played first team football yet, so we don't know how they will react or perform. I do hope that they're given a decent chance though.

Re: BIRMINGHAM CITY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
We are going nowhere, think I’d rather see the predictable loss, Stoke win and Swansea start to squirm…..

I was just going to post something along the same lines. If I were Joel Colwill or Cian Ashford, I'd be insulted by the suggestion that my inclusion would substantially weaken the City teams that took the field against Millwall, Birmingham, Leicester, Leeds, Plymouth, Norwich, Blackburn, Huddersfield, Swansea, Sunderland etc. etc.

Birmingham - Out: Marc Roberts, Oliver Burke, Lukas Jutkiewicz and Alfie Chang.
Cardiff - Out: Jak Alnwick, Rubin Colwill, Mark McGuinness, Callum O’Dowda, Josh Wilson-Esbrand, Kion Etete. Doubt: Ryan Wintle.

Re: BIRMINGHAM CITY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Birmingham's new stadium getting closer:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68768084
Birmingham City have moved a step closer to a new stadium after their owners completed the purchase of land to the east of the city - less than a mile from their St Andrew's home.
Knighthead Capital Management's deal to buy the 48-acre, former Birmingham Wheels site on Bordesley Park will mean Blues leaving St Andrew's.
But there is not yet any timescale on when the club will move.
-
Talks over the sale have been ongoing for weeks, involving US-based club chairman Tom Wagner, Blues chief executive Garry Cook and the council's lead commissioner Max Caller, with West Midlands Mayor Andy Street acting as a mediator.
A government grant of about £17m was secured to help clean up the site through the levelling-up fund - and work to clear the site has already started as a result of the funding.
The city council will inject a further £1.9m as a condition of receiving the money.
The club say the site will have "a new multi-use stadium, high-performance training facilities and other mixed-use real estate development including a range of entertainment options".

Re: BIRMINGHAM CITY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
They’ve only just finished upgrading St Andrew’s

That's what I thought. It's sod all to do with the football club by the looks of it, just a great big vanity project for someone to leave his 'legacy'..

To be fair, this seems to be about more than a new ground. Looks they will be having the new stadium, new training facilities and academy all in one place
Some of the work Birmingham were doing to St Andrews was because they found asbestos in the stands, I can see why you'd think about moving away

Re: BIRMINGHAM CITY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Bulut has got his excuses in early "We have seen their form, of course, but I believe they're better than what their league position shows," Erol began. "I believe they're underrated and they need points.

Apparently he says we are going for them from the word go tomorrow. If I had tea in my mouth it would have covered the walls.

Thing is the media hardly ever asks him anything remotely probing.
-
Re: BIRMINGHAM CITY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Looking like a must win game for Brum.
Hope we manage to scrape ourselves off the beach and put a performance in.
-
Re: BIRMINGHAM CITY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Haven't been so upset gor a long time, after a match as I was v Brum at home. Took me a few days to get over that performance. So disappointing.
Thank goodness nothing on it for us. No need me to kick the door if we are beaten .

I don’t bother with Bulut’s press conferences any more, but in his early days he had them eating out of his hands. He had these “hard bitten hacks” wishing him good luck once they finished their questions and it was all very friendly - Bulut was clever with the media, he flattered them a bit, gave them a bit of old flannel and, from what I saw, generally avoided being asked awkward questions.

After last nights results, never want us to lose and Stoke win more

Nah it's not happening. They need one win. I'm sure they can pretend they are playing us and be just fine.
Maybe if no success tonight they could ask the Rotherham fans to show up on Saturday in their flood gear for the inspiration.

Yes I hear they are all getting down the stadium earlier to wave and stare at the Stoke fans, the club chef is popping into say they are the capital of football….yeah right you are….full swimming regalia being donned by every kid and old man in Swansea today, probably given most the day off school/glue to get ready for the big night.

Re: BIRMINGHAM CITY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Bobby Madley's been ditched. Birmingham complained that he might favour us as his team, Huddersfield, are battling Brum to avoid the drop.
Sam Allison now in charge.
