Your top 5 things you want post pandemic.....
I know there won’t be an exact, right it’s over time, as many need to get vaccinated yet and the virus will no doubt be around for a few years.....

2. Go to the pub with mates
3. Go to see a live band or football
4. Go abroad on holiday
5. Take my mum out for lunch

Re: Your top 5 things you want post pandemic.....
For kids to be able to see their friends, socialise, get on with their education and have some fun. At least the majority of us on here had that opportunity. It's difficult for so many people for so many reasons, but kids and the elderly who are by themselves have probably suffered more than anyone.

Actually more funding for the nhs in general, not run down like it has been for years, would be in there.

1. People realising that a life in debt is not good and to live within their means.
2. People supporting local businesses, and local businesses feeling the benefits of people working from home in satellite towns rather than large cities.
3. People given the freedom to work from home permanently. If it has worked for people since March, then there is no reason for these people to be forced back into an office for anything other than social reasons.
4. Families spending more time together as a result of less time commuting and a realisation that the odd visit to a family member can no longer be taken for granted
5. A pint at a pub with the missus and the kids staying at their grandparents.
Things I am not looking forward to
1. Brother-in-law coming for elongated visits when his cupboard is empty and he's looking for a cheap week of food.
2. Being back in the office for anything more than 1 day in a blue moon. I'll pack the job in if they expect me in an office again.
3. Resorting back to spending a fortune in the gym because it is "nicer" than running outside
4. Pubs and restaurants raising prices because of a few hard months. If prices are going up, then sod them.
5. Traffic jams.

Re: Your top 5 things you want post pandemic.....
Why are you all keen to go back to the office? I can't think of anything worse than spending 40 hours a week in an enclosed space with people I don't particularly like, and spending £40 a week for the privilege.

Being a manager and new to an area it's nowhere near as effective to manage from home. I'm a people person (most of the time) and my real strength is building relationships with people in a team environment. Remotely this can work ok but it's nowhere near as effective as getting a bunch of people in a room and getting the energy levels up.
I personally would want four days in the office and potentially a Friday off, hate working from home with a passion

Re: Your top 5 things you want post pandemic.....
Watch the City
Go to a concert
Go to the pub with mates
Meal with missus and family
Get married abroad
In that order

My ex-manager is exactly like that too - not saying it is the case with you, but she was a micro manager and a control freak.

I wont be going back 5 days a week, but to spend a bit of time with people I used to spend a big chunk of time with (some of whom I quite like) is one thing I've missed. Social interaction is what a lot of people are missing.

Do you get this work mates going on the 'piss' together thing? each to their own and all that, i've always formed good working relationships, but not personal friends, no chance.

Put me down for 1 day a month. Anything more is a huge waste of time, as the last 9 months have shown.

I don't. I've worked with some decent people who I like but, apart from work, we have little in common. Same in school, as soon as I left we had a big bash to celebrate the end of A levels and I pissed off by 8pm and told most of them I was glad to see the back of them.
Friends are people you meet in places you like going to. Football matches, gym, brothels. That sort of thing.
-
Re: Your top 5 things you want post pandemic.....
To mix freely with people. For school to start. To travel. To visit and be visited.
Last week I noticed myself being conscious of people in old films and TV shows being too close to one another. I hope that goes away.

I get that too. I feel quite nostalgic when I see a bar scene. I think there will be a few weeks when we'll be very cagy in crowded places, I do wonder if there'll be some sort of PTSD for some people if and when things get back to normal.

Jesus, you sound just like me :hehe: I hate work, it's a load of piss and i don't want to be there. I don't want to be reminded of it when it's over :hehe: Same with school re-unions, last time i saw any of them i was 16 years old-what's there to talk about?

Haha far from it mate, the opposite in fact. I just find everything easier in person staring at a screen all day is depressing. In a busy work environment I miss those of the cuff chats and discussions that really clarify things or aid learning.

In school it was crap the last two years. Basically one big stab in the back fest, and being reminded by dickheads that I will struggle to get a decent career. I've done alright.
I'm in, I do a good job, then I leave. On the 15th they pay me money and I spend it doing stuff I like. Last time I went to the Christmas do was 2004 when I was in my early 20s. The boss did this big countdown in front of the doors before allowing us in - I just turned away and walked back to the station and got a train home. :hehe:

Some jobs probably need that. Not mine though. I work in IT, running and designing reports. Last thing I want is someone coming up to my desk with a last minute change that ****s up my work of art. :hehe:

I work for the local authority, construction, i've got about 3 managers, i don't answer the phone when the call, don't reply to their E mails or go to meetings and book jobs in for myself even when it needs another pair of hands. It works very well for me!

I had a boss who used to watch cricket when working from home. He'd just come online at lunch and tea. I said to him "Look, I don't mind that you do it, it's the hypocrisy I hate". :hehe:

I went to one Christmas do before that, and one guy was having a right go at a manager. I asked him why he doesn't say this when he's sober and in the office. I only went because there was a girl there who had just had her clit pierced and said she would show me when she was drunk. She did to be fair.

:hehe: :hehe: That's a good reason to go to a works do. My lot are special, they end up fighting with each other or with bouncers etc. I even try and bail out of family do's. My side are fine, quiet, polite etc, the in laws just get wankered, dance to tom jones and elvis songs, start crying and usually get a bit racist :hehe:

1. Travelling the world

I missed a school friends wedding to watch City at Sheff U. Didn't bother RSVP and he was not happy. I was though, even though we lost 2-1. Harris scored I think. They're divorced now. :hehe:

There's this bloke on youtube who is travelling the coast of the UK in a 1980's speed boat, stopping off along the way. Absolutely brilliant, he takes a different person on each leg of the journey. The filming is fantastic. Harry Dwyer is his name, better than anything i've seen on TV.

Weddings, go on far to long in this country. Someone on here said that in Vietnam they last about 2 hours, food an' all. Sounds perfect!

Have to agree with that, especially as I don't drink anymore. The free wine made it bearable 🤣

Yeah, i'm not a drinker. I don't care what anyone says, you need alcohol in order to get through a wedding.
