FT: BURNLEY 2 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Opta stats:
- Burnley haven't lost a home game against Cardiff since May 1988 (1-2), winning six and drawing eight since then.
- Cardiff haven't lost consecutive matches against Burnley since the 1999-00 campaign in the third tier.
- Burnley manager Sean Dyche has never lost against Neil Warnock, winning four of his five matches against the Cardiff boss (D1).
- Burnley have won their last two Premier League games, each by a margin of two goals. The last time they won three in a row by 2+ goals in the top-flight was back in October 1968 (a run of four).
- Cardiff have lost five of their last six Premier League games (W1), with a victory against West Ham the only exception in that run.
- Burnley have lost just one of their last 14 Premier League games against sides starting the day in the relegation zone (W7 D6), though that loss was earlier this season - against Fulham.
- Burnley's Ashley Barnes has had a hand in four goals in three league starts against Cardiff (three goals, one assist), although his last goal against them came back in March 2012.
- Cardiff's Victor Camarasa has scored two goals in his last three Premier League games - as many as he'd netted in his previous 21 in the competition.
- Ashley Barnes has scored 10 league goals for Burnley this season - only Danny Ings in 2014-15 (11) has netted more in a single Premier League campaign for the Clarets.
- Cardiff's nine away league goals this season have been netted by eight different players, with Sol Bamba the only Bluebird to score more than once on the road.

At least we've got a half-decent ref today.

But Southampton are 1 - 0 up against Wolves in 2 minutes. We could do with less of that type of luck.

Re: BURNLEY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Why isn't that goal offside? Barnes is blocking Etheridge

Re: BURNLEY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
One team wants this and they're not in City shirts.
Abject once again from our lot. I can take a lack of quality but there are some of ours just going through the motions.

I'm fuming. That was more clearly offside than the Chelsea goal. He didn't even move back, just stood in front of Etheridge. How do these match officials keep their job with such obvious mistakes?

Re: BURNLEY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Didn't exactly look like we were scrapping for our survival out there.
F uck it - go for it bring Reid and Niasse on for Junior and Arter and go down guns blazing

Gary Lineker tweet:
@GaryLineker
Ashley Barnes has received a yellow card after coming face-to-face with Joe Bennett. Barnes kissed Bennet on the nose (honestly), not once but twice. Lucky perhaps not to get 2 yellows. 💋💋

Re: BURNLEY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Another offside goal?
“When that ball came over for the corner kick, I don’t think it touched anybody and it should have been a goal kick. Then, when the ball comes over, Barnes is stood in an offside position and the mere fact he makes a movement may have interfered with the goalkeeper’s line of sight.
“Had there been an offside decision, I wouldn’t have been surprised. I think VAR would have drawn that to the referee’s attention. I think he was, his movement and his presence there is enough to say he’s interfering with his opponent.”

Prefers his tracking back/defensive qualities.

Penalty.... Yes.... No. Dean changes his mind.
Neil's post match interview is going to be a classic!

Re: BURNLEY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
It's a penalty. Mee played it onto himself. That gets given every time elsewhere on the pitch.

Not according to the match co-commentator
It doesn't have to be hand ball on purpose does it
The hand stopped the ball hitting the target.

Re: BURNLEY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Arter hits top of the bar. Been excellent after restart

Yep, 100% penalty. First one is interesting, haven't seen it from the right angle yet, if he is making himself bigger that is too.

2 handballs. Dean gives them. Then changes his mind last minute.
Burnley goal offside by yards.
This does feel like a wind up against warnock doesn't it. The media already laughing about his reaction and what he's going to say after the game.
All a big joke to them- its an entertainment business after all.
I don't think it started off like that but thats what it has become now. Like the WWE.
-
Re: BURNLEY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
He didn't mean it but I don't see how playing the ball onto your own hand isn't a penalty.

He has made it pretty clear that he doesn't know the rules.

The co commentator keeps saying it but he's wrong.
