Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
wow that's a surprise.
I hope we keep him though.

Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
Very hit and miss that Football Insider page isn't it. If it is true, a large part of me is surprised we haven't accepted that sort of money for him.

Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
The Craig Bellamy effect?
For a young forward who has barely broken into a Championship first team - and in the post Covid transfer market - an opening offer of £2.5m (if any of this is true) is an indication of how highly Bellamy and the Burnley analysts rate Davies. I hope we keep him.

Bellamy's influence I would imagine, if it's true of course
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
Strange one if true.
He looked decent at times but was really looking forward to seeing how he and Colwill got on this season with perhaps a bit more possession. Shame neither have had any pre season.
Was hard to judge them properly last season given the dire performances of some around them and the general apathy.
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
Decent fee, I’m surprised we have turned it down although could be holding out for more.
Hoping it could mean an opportunity to spend a bit more on a new striker
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
That website is more miss than hit, Id take whatever they say with a pinch of salt
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
They got the scoop from Pete O'Rourke who I thought was pretty good with these things.
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
If there's any truth in it then I would have thought Bellamy would have sounded out Isaak D first which would mean he's open to a move.

Am I right in thinking he'd need permission to speak to him officially?
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
I'd be gutted if he does leave before we get to see him and Colwill playing alongside this new team.

It would seem a lot of money to turn down, particularly as it might fund a proven striker or 2 on loan. If there is any truth in it I hope the club doesn't shoot itself in the foot.

When has following rules ever been part of Bellamy's make-up though? :hehe:

Officially then yes.....but a call off your old mentor perhaps not.

Serious question JR. Do you think he should go? My feeling is he should as I think it would be better for him and Colwill to leave. Of course I don't want that to happen from a City point of view, but just sticking a football hat on for a moment, what are your thoughts?

I agree. From a financial point of view, that's a big offer to us for Davies if true.

I don't think it is a lot of money in today's market....let's look at around £6mill and you'll get the clubs attention.

It's this line of thinking that's got the club in a mess in the first place

I think you are right, he looks to me like he could make a really good player, we need a striker this could be the season he comes good, i would be gutted of we sell.

Im staying tight lipped for the moment. Dont want to upset the happy clappers on here who thinks Steve Morison shits rainbows.
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
I'm still not sure if hes best position is as a striker or a winger, however I am sure that we should keep him and develop his talents further
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
2.5 Million is a lot in these times I'd sell for 5 million with add on's if Burnley won the League ?

Fair enough. I get that.

Jesus wept. From my early days of supporting City and the selling of Toshack onwards, we have nearly always sold our best up n' coming players. So an emphatic 'NO' from me. We need to build for the future. Davies and Colwill are OUR future. I'd rather Morison go than Davies, or Colwill, come to that. Definitely a huge leapt backwards for us, if either or both go.
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
Are they sure its not Watters they want? Or Harris?
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
Would be disappointed if he goes. More potential than Colwill for me
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
If we have turned down £2.5m though well done Cardiff City
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
Despite my previous comment I'd love him to stay and shine but it's a hell of a call for the powers that be, sell and sell a potential superstar or keep and accept a lesser offer later if he doesn't make it. So many things to weigh from their point of view, not the least must be the fee and what they might do with it. It's easy for us to say keep him but I wouldn't like to be the person who has to make a final call and live with the consequences if it went wrong.
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
I'd hope to see a decent sell-on clause inserted into any deal if we do let him go.
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
If true, well done CCFC in refusing the offer.
Looked a real handful in the few games I've seen him play.
If we play to his strengths then who knows where he could take us this season or where he could end up playing.
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
could easily be his agent or Bellamy stirring the pot.
or there could be genuine interest.
he seems to have more about him than Harris or Watters so if he was fit you'd expect him to be getting plenty of game time.
real shame that him and Colwill have picked up injuries when they did

This ^^^
We have fecked up big time over the years regarding this type of thing.
Tim nice but dim must be negotiator in chief!
Doubt we as fans will see any benefit from any deal so I say keep him at all costs!

Exactly, if Burnley think he’s worth £2.5 million doesn’t thatsuggest that potentially he’s better than the sort of experienced striker that could be bought for that sort of fee? If the story is true, then we seem to be encouraging Burnley to come n with another offer.

Or just hang on another season with him here……
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
Would be a huge loss, he’s really come on since and been given a chance since Morison took the job. When fit surely a starter.
-
Re: Burnley after Isaak Davies
IIRC he was ahead of Watters and Harris before his injuries, certainly Watters.
So don't see any reason for him to be down the pecking order now. just really unfortunate timing of his injury

And still young and getting better, Bellamy knows him better than us, and knows ten times more about what you need to be a top player, if he's offered £2.5 million, he's worth a lot more, and we should keep him and let him reach his full potential.

Also don’t see why he can’t do the same job as Ojo.
