City players you've seen out and about.
The most recent one for me was Gunnarsson shortly before he left the club.
He was sat a few tables away from me in Wagamama with his family in Mill Lane.

Re: City players you've seen out and about.
One of my all time City heroes; John Buchanan In Hill Rise.
I couldn’t believe it was him walking towards me.
As I was a teenager at the time, I was trying to play it too cool, but he could see that I recognised and he smiled.
I don’t have many regrets in life, but I really look back at that moment and wish that I had stopped and said how good I thought he was.

Re: City players you've seen out and about.
Kav in Buzz shoe shop at the end of High Street arcade. I'd picked up my three girls after school and taken them into town because one of them wanted a pair of shoes. In strolls Kav with his wife and a toddler in a buggy. We just let them get on with it while him and me chatted football for ten or so minutes. Lovely bloke

Re: City players you've seen out and about.
Danny Ward buying full-fat RedBull in Sainsburys, Cardiff Bay. Not a classic, I admit.
-
Re: City players you've seen out and about.
Jon Parkin in revs in town, seemed a decent bloke. Wouldn't argue with him.

Re: City players you've seen out and about.
Ian Gibson staggering around the bar in the Golf Range in Pontcanna.

Kav's son went to Danescourt school at the same time as my daughter. She saw him picking him up after school a few times but didn't appreciate that she was in the presence of a hero.

I was behind Neil Alexander in Asda Ferry Road. Was surprised at his shopping basket, wasn't the healthiest 🤣🤣

Re: City players you've seen out and about.
Lee Baddley and Damon Searle in a club that used to be by Virgin records

One of my daughters was in awe of him, as she was a season ticket holder with me, back then. She couldn't believe that a Cardiff City 'hero' of hers could just chat like a normal bloke, in a shoe shop

Re: City players you've seen out and about.
Malcolm Clarke outside Cardiff Castle in about 1968
-
Re: City players you've seen out and about.
Most recent: Bumped into Glatzel down Barry island at the height of lockdown, he was a nice fella
Best: Whitts in town
-
Re: City players you've seen out and about.
Robert Earnshaw on st Mary's street about 1am.
city were away that day and he'd scored the winner, I think he'd just got back to Cardiff and thought he'd go and soak up the adulation from the crowds. he was clearly stone cold sober and 95% of the drunk passers by had absolutely no idea who he was
-
Re: City players you've seen out and about.
Whitts in the sports bar in town.
-
Re: City players you've seen out and about.
Drove Kevin Campbell to present at my mates football team presentation in the valleys. Shows how tight our club has always been that they didn't arrange proper transport. 🤣
-
Re: City players you've seen out and about.
Paul Wimbleton used to see a lot out and about. Had a chat with Don Murray in the Merry Harrier. Kenwynne out shopping in Cardiff City Centre. Craig Middleton the same. Alan Lewis see about a lot.
-
Re: City players you've seen out and about.
Whitts sat on the steps his home opposite Penarth pier. Did an ayatollah which he returned. Damon Searle in a pizza shop in Barry with his missus, lovely guy think he was with Carlisle then but was visiting family. Paul Quinn in the garden of his house on Nells Point, Barry Island.

Many years ago (early 90s) we were up in Edinburgh for a Cardiff Devils match at Murrayfield. Whilst drinking in a Rose Street bar one of our group said he had just been chatting with one of the locals who had said he used to play football for Cardiff. Turns out the short fat guy was indeed Ian Gibson.

Re: City players you've seen out and about.
Saw Earnshaw in town a few years after he left us. Went up to him and told him he was my favourite all time City legend (which he still is and probably always will be).

Re: City players you've seen out and about.
Not so much out and about but played cricket against a Cardiff City side and Gary Bennett played - he was freaking quick as a bowler - all tidy people and stayed afterwards along with manager Len Ashurst
-
Re: City players you've seen out and about.
Kav in a cinema foyer asking his wife for a Ribena. Tony Capaldi in Sainsbury's in town. Russell Perrett in Capitol Arcade (when it had shops). The whole squad at Heathrow on the way to Portugal for "pre-season training".
-
Re: City players you've seen out and about.
I once served David Forde in a clothes shop in town, also met Kadeem Harris after he just joined, saw Whitts and Glenn Loovens shopping together in St. David's, Jon Parkin in St. David's 2 (you'd do well to miss him), Cameron Jerome in his grey jogging bottoms on Queen St. and Andy Campbell outside a church a few days after he scored the winner at the playoff final.
Not really out and about, but I sat in front of Kevin Cooper at Ninian for a cup game after he retired, and I was sat behind the youth team and next to Dr. Len Nokes. I kept checking my ticket as I thought I got the wrong seat. I felt like one of the backroom staff.

I was standing in a shop doorway in Puerto pollensa Majorca, waiting for my wife to come out of a shop when I heard a Cardiff accent in the near distance. Gilo walked past with his daughter? And a young child in a pushchair. Amazing stuff!
-
Re: City players you've seen out and about.
Had a good chat with Gilo in a pub in Bath. Think his brother was at Bath City in some capacity. Seemed a really good bloke and loved chatting about the City.
